Working with Oracle Database in SCT’s Banner modules – Office of Registrar

Room Assignment Department/R25, ALUMNI, HOUSING and Human Resources..

Providing main support to Office of Registrar Room Assignment Department as R25 Admin, and R25 Functional Admin.

Support of R25, the Room Assignments system. Worked with Room

Assignments to provide initial room assignments for the Summer,

Fall and Spring terms.

Created a master photo database of all assignable rooms and their dimensions

that will be made available online (via web viewer) as well as in

Resource 25.

Worked with DBA to move R25 to a new PROD server (GAUDI); upgraded

Oracle Client to 9.2.0.8 on all workstations, including patches.

Installed and configured R25 v33 and its patches.

Installed, Configured and Automated Interface between R25 and SIS (Banner

Student Database) for Scheduling classes.

Installed and Configured R25 Web Viewer which accesses R25 Database and

allows the users from the internet to view classes, available rooms, and news.

Supported changes and additional room assignments after beginning of term by

making changes and running daily reports.

Provided Training to new employees for Room Assignments in Registrar’s

Office and continued support to three scheduling officers.

Installed, Configured, Maintained, Applied Patches and Upgrades R25 and its

Implemented option in Banner Web for Alumni Gift giving without normal

Banner login. This required extensive modification to the SCT web

functions to satisfy user requirements.

Developed a program to update area codes based on files from outside sources.

Made changes to in-house scripts to run via Job Submission.

Form (required by Law).

New package for Online Request for Faculty License Renewals. This also

includes User Fill-in packages, Student Look-up Packages and Admin

Look-up Packages. A major effort involves in creating tables, constraints and

Procedures. Integrated with Online Request Form for opt-in and opt-out

Payroll Deduction Form and an Online Lead Paint/Window Guard Fill-in

Form (required by Law).

Responsible for maintaining CLEAN ADDRESS

Installation, configuration and maintenance of CLEAN ADDRESS packages and

forms from Runner Technologies. With CLEAN ADDRESS, the user cannot

update his/her address without accepting the “Suggestions” as outlined in the

CLEAN Address packages. These “Suggestions” are written as per the USPS

standards. For eg. On Address Line1 = 325 Clinton Ave, on Address Line2=

Apt 6D, then Line2 gets appended to Line1 and is shown like this on Line1=

325 Clinton Ave Apt 6D. This will enable the Office of Registrar to print out

address labels correctly on the envelopes.

Installed, Configured and Maintained the CLEAN ADDRESS on the TEST

server as well.

Applying Updates to CLEAN Address periodically (every 3 months) to get new

data (name and address) from USPS.

Did many in-house modifications and testing to the Banner name, address, email

and telephone Packages, as per the user specifications before it went into

Production.

Red Flag Notifications

Automated the process for sending out Red Flag Notification emails to the

Students and Employees when their existing name, address, email or

telephone numbers are changed in Banner.

Automated the process to send out emails to the Registrar, and Human

Resources Departments and receive the daily file for CLEAN Address

Updates by user as an email attachment.

Emergency Notification System - ENS

Installed, Configured and Maintained InConnect – the software for ENS in

TEST and PROD. Did Upgrades and applied Patches as well.

Wrote a Web package which enables students, faculty or staff to submit an

Opt-in/opt-out for university-sent text messaging for Emergency Notification

System. Send TC Alert notification to such “Newbies” group welcoming to

TC Alert. Collects their phone numbers, whether SMS (TEXT) or

Work Phone (Voice) for ENS and they are stored in the table based on their

Telephone Types.

Automated a program to collect data from Banner Database for 18 groups of

such “Newbies”. It will then process the data file into the Mir3 system via

the InConnect software thru a batch process which performs some

verification of prerequisites and initialize logs prior to initiating batch

processing of data into the Mir3 database. Additionally, post processing

verification will be performed to identify, report, and address error

conditions. Lastly, it will write a summary report to standard out. This

program also sends out SMS (TEXT) or Work Phone (Voice) messages to

“Newbies” based on their error conditions so that they can advise their

phone carriers to allow Notifications from TC Alert.

Supporting data integrity effort.

Worked on merging multiple ID’s and deleting bad data from Banner tables.

Providing backup support for Student Module.

Providing backup support for credit card processing.

Producing and sending the credit card settlement reports to the users.

Analyzed and identified functional sub-systems, and wrote project requirements

and business and technical specifications for the automation of the business

with a relational database.
