Role : Senior System Programmer
Description:
OTS (Operation Tool Support) is the team that handles Event Correlation. It receives events from various Tivoli Event sources and uses various probes like Event Integration Facility (EIF), Message Bus, SCOM, MTTrapd, Syslog, GLF, Socket etc., & Monitoring agents to handle the events from Networks, Servers, Applications & Databases. The alerts that are customized per the requirements are then forwarded to Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus for further processing.
Tivoli Netcool/IMPACT is used to handle Event Escalation and uses Tivoli Integrated Portal (TIP) to create User friendly Interfaces.
Responsibilities:
• Install & Configure Netcool Suite of Products on various environments (AIX, Solaris).
• Develop the rulesfile for the respective probe per the requirement.
• Develop & Customize Impact policies for Event Escalation.
• Configure various triggers per the requirement on OMNIBus.
• Configure & apply changes to Maps, Filters & Views on TIP.
• Support UAT.
2 Network Fault Management Systems, Aug ’08 – Jan ‘11
Client : Qwest Communications Inc, USA
Netcool Product Suite : Tivoli Netcool/OMNIBus (version: 7.1), Tivoli Netcool/Webtop( version 2.2), Tivoli Netcool/IMPACT(version 4.1), OpenService NerveCenter, Probes: MTTrapd, Syslog, Oracle; EMS: Alcatel EMS, Cisco Info Center.
Other Softwares : Concord TrapExploder, Actuate 8.0, CVS, Mib2Rules, Regex, Chronique, SQL, SNMP VCR.
Role : Primary roles are:
• Designer,
• Developer,
• Project coordinator.
Per the project need, I’ve been an ‘Analyst’ for few programs recently.
Description:
Network Fault Management System (NFMS) is the system that manages the Faults that occurs in the Network. It uses SNMP agents to capture the faults from the Network elements and then forward those to the Element Management System, which in turn forwards to the Network Management System. It manages each and every fault, gathers all the information related to the Node (the one which reported the fault), massages the alarm, enriches, correlates it and then escalate them to the Ticketing System which will create the Ticket based on the rules set for it and then dispatches it to the appropriate technician to fix the issue. In this project we used Tivoli Netcool Products to manage the faults and to report them to the Ticketing system with the entire information about the Network element, which raised this fault.
Responsibilities:
• Analyzed the Requirements (based on the traps and the MIB files) and proposed the LOE and resource allocation.
• Designed the flow and prepared the High level & Low-level design documents per the requirements.
• Developed the rulesfile/impact (or) OMNIBus Object server changes per the design and assigned task to the offshore.
• Prepared Alertdefinitions to enrich the Alarm.
• Prepared test cases and performed Unit testing using Chronique/SNMP VCR tool.
• Provided support for the System testing.
• Prepared Project Deployment.
• Provided support for Post Project Release.
• IOS Certification testing.
• Developed Reports using Actuate.
