Professional Experience

2010 - 2011 - SHIFT SUPERVISOR - US NAVY – VA

- Directly supervised shift maintenance and prioritized the efforts of up to a ten technician team in the support of issuance, maintenance, inspection, and repair on 250 sets of aviator’s flight survival equipment and aircraft installed flight survival equipment for 16 E-2 and C-2 aircraft.

- As the senior life support systems technician, lead trouble-shooter and subject matter expert; was responsible for quality control inspections on maintenance performed; ensuring all work center maintenance actions complied with applicable procedures, specifications and proper documentation.

- Directly responsible for training and qualification of three quality inspectors, seven quality proficient E-2/C-2 journeymen, and ten quality proficient E-2/C-2 apprentices.

- Direct personnel, program, quality management and training efforts led to the work center passing their first major “Maintenance Program Assist” inspection in four years.

2007 - 2010 - WORK CENTER MANAGER - US NAVY – CA

- Managed 5 technicians and maintained life support/egress systems for 4 E-2C aircraft and 30 sets of aviator’s life support equipment. Verified and incorporated over 1,500 equipment technical changes and managed the completion of over 1700 inspections, encompassing over 7,500 maintenance man-hours. Submitted of 8 discrepancy reports for parachute emergency oxygen systems.

- Managed team work levels, reviewed work performance, counseled team members on to assist in the correction of job-skill deficiencies. Provided technical training and mentoring to technicians.

- Performed extensive research identifying common discrepancies on 16 aircraft seat equipment release locking pins. Submitted Hazardous Material Reports and provided correct repair procedures to Fleet Support Team (FST), resulting in the release of proper maintenance procedures to fleet publications, eliminating release locking pin discrepancies within the E-2C aircraft community.

- Maintained a qualification database to track departmental maintenance personnel qualifications, training requirements, and projections of expected future maintenance requirements.

2004 - 2007 - QUALITY CONTROL / PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR - US NAVY - CA

- Conducted in-depth evaluations of NAMDRP, Tool Control, Training, Aviators Breathing Oxygen (ABO) and ALSS programs. Aggressively implemented an effective Quality Assurance inspection program covering 40 work centers and 44 maintenance programs resulting in noteworthy “On-Track” grades and in zero off-track programs during the 2005 and 2007 Aviation Maintenance Inspections.

- Team member for numerous Six Sigma/LEAN events; leading an event to redesign the QA work center; increasing work center efficiency by nearly 25%. Evaluated methods, procedures and work spaces outside of the Quality Assurance work center for areas of process improvement. Assisted in the development, implementation, and evaluation maintenance policies and procedures.

- The senior technician and subject matter expert; responsible for maintenance quality inspections and identifying the cause of errors and defects in materials and components. Drafted discrepancy reports for defective materials. Reviewed technical publications for accuracy and submitted change requests for discrepancies. Analyzed equipment and files for needed replacement, service or repair of flight safety equipment. Verified maintenance actions for accuracy and proper documentation.

- As Production Control Supervisor for three Life Support Systems work centers and 20 maintenance technicians, coordinated expeditious repair and return of more than 2900 assets to the Ready for Issue (RFI) pool in support of 31 major aircraft inspections and numerous aircrew equipment inspections. Identified excess ALSS equipment and coordinated with the Fleet Support Team to disperse more than $223,000 in ALSS gear throughout the Fleet. As the primary customer service point of contact, was the liaison between 9 tenant squadrons and the maintenance work centers and technicians.

2001 - 2004 - SUPERVISOR / SENIOR TECHNICIAN - US NAVY - GUAM

- Supervised four technicians and performed quality control inspections for maintenance and repair on 14 H-46D/MH-60S aircraft and 160 sets of aviator’s equipment.

- Deployed as the lone Life Support Systems Technician on detachments, responsible for all flight equipment for 12 aircraft and 2 helicopters, coordinating with forward operating support facilities to ensure 100% availability of life support gear and survival equipment in support of Operations ENDURING and IRAQI FREEDOM.
