• Developer of strong achievement oriented culture as evidenced by student gains: moving HOPE Academy Chapelside off the State’s school closure list/Academic Emergency to Academic Watch (2009-2010) and from Academic Watch to Continuous Improvement (2010-2011); exceeded one year’s growth in both Reading and Mathematics (2009-2010 Value-Added Component) and met one year’s growth in both Reading and Mathematics (2010-2011 Value-Added Component).

• Designed and implemented Individual Student Achievement Plans for every general education student.

• Promoted a solid 93% attendance rate for both the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years.

• Designed and implemented a Saturday School program, a Spring Break Tutorial, and Summer School Program for students in grades three through eight. Programs were exclusively proposed to the HOPE Academy Chapelside Board of Directors, winning its approval and 100% funding of the programs.

• In conjunction with the School Improvement Team, revised the OIP of HOPE Academy Chapelside.

School Safety and Violence Prevention

• Established a School Crisis Prevention, Response, and Recovery Team.

• Established working relationships with community mental health agencies and law enforcement officials.

• Developed and implemented a Three Year Safety Improvement Plan in collaboration with all stakeholders of HOPE Academy Chapelside.

• Established a positive school climate.

Grant Writing

• Secured Race to the Top funding for HOPE Academy Chapelside.

• Secured the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant for the Arts and Sciences Preparatory Academy.

• Secured grant funding from the Women’s Relief Association and the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate for St. Francis Xavier Catholic School.

• Networked with community business leaders to secure funding for Miami Inner-City Angels, the first private 501c3 organization to provide scholarships to Miami’s urban youth.
