Input 1 LLC - Los Angeles CA (Remote)
Maintained and wrote features for insurance financing systems used by dozens of clients, including customizations of behaviors on a per-customer basis. Designed and implemented algorithms for interest accruals and custom calculations.
Responsible for full stack development and testing. Primarily worked using HTML/CSS/jQuery, C#/.net and SQL Server.
2019-2020 Senior Software Engineer
Camp Systems - Merrimack NH
Built a system using AWS technology stack (primarily AWS textract and Node.JS), to ingest invoices, run through OCR, and perform document layout analysis to convert the extracted data into a format suitable for import into the existing application. Wrote a templating system for defining document layouts, which could then be written by junior-level or less-technical developers.
Maintained and developed features for an application for managing private plane aircraft maintenance/scheduling/tracking, with upwards of 10,000 users. Technologies used included Node.JS, C#/.net, SQL Server, Oracle databases, and a variety of front-end frameworks.
2018
Expert Software Engineer
TomTom Inc – Lebanon NH
Utilizing AWS, elastic search, EC2, and other technologies. Database service calls were split out to as many as 15 instances, and stacked downward through historical shard levels.
Machine learning and statistical analysis for throttling and rate limiting. Developed an approach to using approximated “floating” histograms for summarizing data points too numerous to store individually. 2014,
2016-2018
Principal Software Engineer
Cimpress Inc (parent company of Vistaprint) – Waltham MA Provided technical leadership on REST service development, application architecture, and execution performance.
Development primarily on AWS, utilizing EC2, EBS, Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and other services.
Worked on the “next-generation” SOA commerce platform and wholesale integration platforms, using .NET stack as well as J2EE for various serious implementations. Backend support with SQL Server, as well as JSON-based MongoDB.
Provided development guidance for volume pricing algorithms, taxation aggregation, and refund price splitting. Wrote internal content on development topics, with particular pieces on “Exception Handling” and
“Integer Remainder Splitting” being circulated for internal company publication.

Lead the successful execution of several data science “marathon” competitions per month, including all phases of the process from requirements gathering down to final results reporting. Domains include a variety of disciplines of scientific and/or commercial interest such as environment, genetics, aerospace, consumer behavior and automation. Problem types include predictive analytics, algorithmic optimization, image/pattern recognition, and objective modelling. Data analysis and fitting, validating statistical rigor, designing scoring rubrics, using and adapting from standard approaches including least-squares, Brier scoring, Mahalanobis distance, log-loss, AuC, and others.
Maintaining distributed systems in an AWS environment, including setup, teardown, image cloning, and system debugging. Algorithm problem writing, testing, and solving, for both client and non-client “for fun” work, working across both windows and Linux environments. Writing papers and reporting results, evaluating the usage of various machine learning algorithms including neural networks, deep learning, random forests, K-nearest neighbors, hill-climbing, principal component analysis, and others.
2010-2014 Software Engineer
Google, Inc - Cambridge MA
Worked for 9 months with the Chrome team on collecting user metrics and building a dashboard for viewing User Metrics Analysis. This tool provided a fast means of viewing aggregated results of very large data sets, and also illustrated A/B comparisons for experiment/control feature tests. Taught a ten week session on the art of public speaking to sixth grade students as part of volunteering with the Citizen Schools program. Wrote and reviewed code pertaining to feature and usage logging, enabling more accurate data collection for better analysis. Wrote bespoke analysis software for analysis of large datasets, looking at features and data points not covered by standard toolsets. Wrote reports on the findings using advanced statistical analyses.
Worked in small groups to implement large-scale changes to low-level feature logging, to allow more flexible analysis on the back end. 2005-2009 Senior Developer

Worked with end users and business partners on requirements for electronic data interchange. Identified and executed a pragmatic way of moving data from inconsistent arrival formats, to standardized canonical schema, utilizing DTS and SSIS. Developed SQL reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) based upon stored procedures, as well as third-party and in-house developed web services.
Built numerous C# and .NET based web services to support complex business process. Completed web services allowed seamless data flow between third-party and custom applications.
Architected windows system services using C#/.NET to facilitate secure application communications with servers that were geographically dispersed, and topologically disconnected.
Architected, designed, developed, and implemented the company’s first content-managed intranet. Intranet is a permissions-based web portal that included features like WYSIWYG editing without IT assistance, and security-sensitive search capability.
