Translation/Proofreading/Interpreting

I have experience with both copyediting and proofreading. I have performed these services as a freelancer in a variety of specialties, as well as during my employment in the healthcare and retail industries (patient education material, promotional material, etc.) 2006-present Freelance Medical Editor (English), Translator (English<>Spanish / German, Portuguese, French, and Catalan > English and Spanish), and Interpreter (English<>Spanish). My experience translating medical (pathology, laboratory, and imaging reports), pharmaceutical (clinical trials and manufacturing guidelines), environmental-related (environmental reports), legal, technical, and scientific material has enabled me to become familiar with the healthcare, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and technology industries, as well as the documentation used in these industries, and legal documentation; Spanish <> English consecutive over-the-phone and court interpreting (Las Vegas 2025); editing technical, medical, and other scientific articles before publication in journals, according to the journal’s guidelines and adopted style. 2010-2013 U of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA. Staff Translator (ES, PT, and CA into EN; EN into ES). On-site and telephone Spanish medical interpreting and translation. I interpreted in all the departments of a world-renowned cancer hospital and thus became familiar with the operation of this healthcare facility.

2009-2010 On Track Innovations, Inc. and SuperCom, Guayaquil, Ecuador. Spanish Contract Translator and Interpreter for Israeli companies, world leaders in contactless chip and RFID-based solutions. I translated material related to server integration, software architecture and design, peripheral hardware, biometric identification, counterfeiting prevention measures, and bids for government projects. I provided onsite interpreting during meetings between team members and government officials for government eID and ePassport projects in Ecuador.

2007-2009 Almacenes De Prati, Guayaquil, Ecuador. Spanish Translator and Interpreter for the COO at a leading apparel and home goods retail company in Ecuador. I interpreted during board meetings and meetings with the VPs, translated sales & operations reports and SAP-related documentation, and accompanied the COO during regular visits to the stores and public and HR events. This way, I became familiar with home goods and ready-to-wear retail operations.

I was responsible for the operation of the farm - which was aimed at producing for export - including hatchery, feeding, and grow-out follow-up, disease- control and health monitoring, pumping schedules, and harvesting. I documented water quality parameter readings and phyto- and zooplanktonic composition (freshwater) over time, to use as reference, since this information had not been previously compiled for this area. 1987-1988 Seafarms, Inc., Grant, Florida, USA. Clam and oyster farm technician. Participated in all seeding, harvesting, and maintenance operations. Monitored water quality in closed recirculation systems on land, as well as in the Intercoastal Waterway.
