EDUCATION:
Ph.D Degree, Analytical Chemistry December 2007, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN
MS Degree, Organic Chemistry, July 1998, Xiamen University, Fujian, P.R.China
BS Degree, Chemistry, July 1995, Xiamen University, Fujian, P.R.China
Ph.D Thesis Research
Dissertation: Chromatographic Fractionation of Protein Complexes
•2-D LC-MS/MS Methodology Development for Protein Complexes Recognition:
•Developed proteomics methods for discovering protein quaternary structure as part of global proteomics in complex sample such as yeast lysate using multi-dimension liquid chromatography (hydrophobic interaction, size exclusion, strong anion and reversed-phase) and tandem mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-TOF, Trap XCT and QqTOF).
•Demonstrated method comparability to shot gun and two dimensional gel electrophoresis on resolution and speed with the added advantage of recognizing protein primary and quaternary structures.
•Synthesize New Labeling Agent:
Co-developed a series of new labeling reagents for amino acids detection and
quantification to increase the retention time of small hydrophilic amino acids in RPLC
and enhance the ionization in the ESI MS.
•2-D LC-MS/MS for Protein Identification in Complex Sample
•Peptide Mapping
Graduate Research (Xiamen University)
•Synthesized diasteromeric β,γ-disubstituted γ-lactones under nitrogen atmosphere.
•Confirmed or identified the structure of the intermediates and product and excess enantiomer by chiral chromatography, solid and liquid Infrared (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), mass spectrometry (CI-MS and EI-MS).
