Clinical Therapist September 2025-January 2026

As a therapist, I handle providing therapeutic services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and related behavioral health issues. I conduct intake interviews and comprehensive assessments to show substance use patterns, mental health concerns, and psychosocial needs; developing and implementing individualized treatment plans; and providing individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based therapeutic approaches. I support clients in naming triggers, developing coping and relapse-prevention skills, and building motivation for recovery. My added duties include crisis intervention, monitoring client progress, coordinating care with medical and mental health professionals, making referrals to community resources, and aid with discharge and aftercare planning.

As a therapist, I work closely with patients, providing therapy services, using a wide variety of treatments. I provide assessments using a Biopsychosocial Model. I work closely with other therapists and health care providers to discuss the client list each day and what the specific needs of each client are. I work as a patient advocate in all aspects of their care, by making referrals for appointments and attending meetings to ensure that we are acting in the best interest of the patient. I also facilitate group therapy sessions with patients, as well as arranging family therapy sessions when needed and if it is beneficial for the patient.

Core Measures Abstractor October 2022-March 2023

I worked as the abstractor for the psychiatric center at ARH. I oversaw the completion of patients charts daily. I would review the charts for all new admissions, ensuring that all necessary documentation was completed. I would then complete the discharge paperwork when a patient left our facility. I would work closely with other staff, therapists, nurses, physicians. I would attend meetings to discuss the various aspects of this position with staff from the agency, along with attending daily meetings to discuss patients and their needs for the day.

NECCO

Case Manager November 2021-May 2022

I worked as a case manager for NECCO, a therapeutic foster care agency. I oversaw the care of youth on my caseload. I would conduct home visits, would interact with youth in the community, and complete any necessary paperwork/documentation. I would work closely with other staff from the agency, along with state social workers, foster parents, physicians, and other medical professionals. As a case manager, I would attend court hearings via zoom calls, often discussing the placement of youth, and the potential return of youth to biological families. I would often transport youth for respite placements, to hospitals during emergencies, and to new homes when necessary. Added responsibilities that I completed were updating the computer system with client’s info, creating treatment and supervision plans, and collecting paperwork from foster parents.

I was first introduced to KRADD doing practicums while working on my associate's degree. I did document filing, helping in planning elder program, receptionist work, mailing, and documenting procedures. I started my summer internship at KRADD as I started my bachelor’s program at The University of Kentucky. My internship including aiding the Grant Department by filling in as a grant writer until they were able to fill the original opening. As a grant writer I handled writing media releases, submitting the grants for public hearings, verifying the information about the grant by contacting judges / mayors / other county officials for final confirmation, then I coordinated the zoom meetings for the public hearings. My internship turned into an offer to become fulltime position with the Participant Directed Services department, as an Advisor and Case Manager, which I accepted. My responsibilities as an Advisor and Case Manager involve gathering and organizing client timesheets, placing medical supply orders, filing, and validating client paperwork.

Kentucky Scholar Institute Internship

I completed this internship at KRADD, in Hazard. I completed a variety of tasks while there, such as filing paperwork, answering the phone, and attending staff meetings. I had the opportunity to work with the case managers and got a glimpse into what the social work aspect looks like at their agency.

Learning Abroad

Ireland 2019

I attended a 10-day education abroad trip in May 2019, with the purpose of evaluating the social work program in Ireland, with the University of Kentucky. While I was in Ireland, we had the opportunity to volunteer at a women’s shelter, which really gave me a first-hand look at how the social work program functions.
