FOOD STAMP ELIGIBILITY SPECIALIST DEPT. OF SOCIAL SERVICES MAY 2018 - PRESENT
•Educate and guide households and individuals about the SNAP program eligibility criteria, application requirements, and processes.
•Pre-screen households and individuals in person to identify those who are potentially eligible.
•Counsel and advise clients regarding the necessary documentation and application requirements.
•Help potentially eligible households and individuals gain access to the SNAP program by providing application guidance and assistance via phone, email, and web-based tools (e.g., Access HRA).
•Ensure all SNAP applications and recertifications are processed on time and complete with proper supporting documentation.
•Provide post-application assistance and advocacy for disputed cases -as needed to existing clients.
•Provide case management assistance to existing clients (e.g., periodic reports and change reports).
•Refer SNAP clients to other low-income programs they may be eligible to receive (e.g., free tax services, etc.) and track that information.

•Review Medicaid applications and renewals for consumers applying for Medicaid.
•Review documentation for completeness and adequacy to make the appropriate eligibility decision using the applicable New York City guidelines and procedures.
•Complete the required case action utilizing the Welfare Management System (WMS) and various external program applications, such as the Eligibility Data Image Transfer System (EDITS) and the HRA One Viewer, and complete the requisite consumer notices, forms, and system updates.
•Determine whether additional documentation or referral to an outside agency is necessary to make an eligibility decision.
•Consult with the unit’s Supervisor, as needed, on overall problems and complicated cases to ensure timely
completion of work within strictly enforced timeframes.
