HRM is an Affordable Housing leader in the Property Management Industry with a portfolio of 50+ properties (2500 units). While working as the Accounts Payable Manager I was promoted to Junior Property Accountant and challenged with the task of restructuring the accounting department. After reviewing the company’s resources and assets available for use in the accounting department, I began the transition by engaging our software provider to implement a rollout of services currently available but not yet implemented. My experience with Yardi software gave me sure direction on where I needed to focus when training, and it helped me nail down policy and procedure for all staff members. Since these products have always been available it was a great decision for the planning team to go forward with this new approach. With these improvements we streamlined or process and lowered costs a cross the board. This in turn elevated HRM to new status that is on the cutting edge of our industry, making it possible for HRM owners to concentrate on generating additional business as well as developing several properties which then became part of the growing portfolio. As a member of the weekly Finance Team, we were responsible for budget and cash flow approvals required for payments/check run. Provided oversight of the check run process. Updated the policies and procedures guidelines in A/P for upper management. Maintained GAAP and SOX guidelines. My time at Tarragon included working with upper level management and the Court system during a Chapter 11 process that required an adjustment to policy and procedure that would support court ordered action. During this time I learned much about the demands of a Judge’s oversight and how a spirit of cooperation and attention to detail results in predominantly positive outcomes and lessens tensions overall.

Achievements
While working for Tarragon Management, I successfully assisted the Director of Finance with the transition of our 100-plus properties (10,000 units) to Yardi, an online platform. This required all data to be imported, evaluated, and corrected if needed. We were able to achieve this goal in half the time needed.
Working for HRM Services, I found many challenges and exciting opportunities to improve accounting policies and procedures. Although I began this job as an A/P Specialist, I was promoted to A/P Manager after 9 months. I received an award for the Highest Achievement that year during our annual corporate training event. I was honored to be recognized and appreciated.
Additionally, while employed for HRM, I was again promoted in July 2020 to Junior Accountant/AP Manager, overseeing all A/P accounting functions plus full financial reporting responsibility for 25 properties. Proving my abilities and excelling beyond what was requested or expected, I was once again promoted to Property Accounting Manager, assuming responsibility for the Property Management Team. With this new role I was able to implement a cross training program that brought our AP department to a new level and provided opportunities for everyone. I am incredibly proud of these accomplishments. It was an exciting and fulfilling time.
