While this “Resume might look like a life history

The object of the “Resume” exists to show

A commitment to teaching accomplishment

First job: as a farm boy in Idaho I was given a pail as soon as I could walk and walked to feed the farm animals.

Second job: when we moved off the farm to a very small town in Idaho I could see :cash difficulty “in the air: and went downtown to the only visible business a small barber shop. So I talked the owner into letting me shine the customers shoes at a total of .10. (ten cents) for a pair of shoes,

In another Idaho small town at ten years of age I managed green houses, planting, watering, selling the plants to customers at ).10 cents per hour) while the owner spent time with his girl friend.

At 12 years old in a larger Idaho I started selling shoes for The Idaho Department Store ( at a top salary of .50 Cents hr) and began paying into Social Security.I was trained in a technology. Loggers from the forests would come in and complain “My feet hurt!.” I would show them “why” and they would look at me a “did” but would take my advice and come back each year with part if their greeting: “I come for my new boots.”

In high school I won a national essay composition prize for comparing Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.

In the summers I worked for the US Forest Service on Fire Lookout, Pyramid Peak and Suntop. I lived on top of a milehigh hill @ 40 miles from the nearest human

Upon graduation from Lewiston, Idaho high school and a recommendation to the manager of the Nordstrom Shoe Store in the University District, with $60.00 in my picket, a one way Greyhound Bus Ticket and an admission to the U of Washington, I left home.

I got the job and upon entering the U of W was told that out of 1500 entering the U of W and taking the Sat Test, I was #3 in top score.

I took one yer to go to UC Berkeley. While I received an ambulance drivers license from the city of Oakland Ca, and also hospital trained to the level of RN.

Upon returning to the U of W in Seattle, I was nominated to the Rhodes Scholarship but was told I could not go to the finals in Wash D.C. because I had not played football.

Upon graduating from the U of W I went to work for the Boeing Airplane Co. on the Minute Missal project as an “Industrial Engineer in Statistics. I designed the first system in the Defense Industry for doing this work on a “computer.” The computer was an IBM 1170 (or 1140) As a result of my work in managing statistics the USAF gave Boeing an extra $50,000,00

I was getting old then (about 22) quit the job, drove to New Orleans in my 6 cylinder Chrysler, and then to New York City.

After a series of interesting events, I was hired by The American Express Inc to go into “Military Banking.’ AMEXCO put me up, all expenses paid, in a Midtown hotel and then flew me first class to Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan and several days later to the island of Okinawa where when I landed my “military” was “Major” and two weeks later upgraded to “Lt Colonel.”

I was also trained in Law by the US Army.

After @ six years on Okinawa and some time on Taiwan, I flew back to New York and then to Frankfurt m Main in Germany. My job title was “Legal Manager of Bank Transactions in Difficulty for German, France England, Turkey and Greece. Then the manager the facility in Athens, Greece disappeared and I was sent to Athens to salvage the situation.

In Greece I looked at my age in the mid 20s and decided if I was going to to the Graduate School, I would have to leave soon or I would disappear into “the mists” of Greece.

So I had an invitation to the Phd Program in English at the newly opened U of So Cal in Irvine, CA.

I was soon invited to the MFAd program back at UCLA> So I changed and in the program (considered the equivalent of a Phd, I was aware the Nathanial Brandon Award for Dramatic Writing, the Donald Davis Award, and two MGM awards.

I also worked for MGM as a screenwriter andethen MGM stopped making motion pictures.

Because of my background in sales and marketing and computers I went to work for the Addressograph Co the Varityper division which was one if the precursors of today’s computer graphics and composition systems.

Now that was an interesting experience as the graphics and publication industry was coming into a completely new and radically changing industry.
