•Take a hands-on role in student interventions, ensuring the proper implementation of multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) and alignment with CCSS.

Highlights:

Co-implemented math and reading enhancement programs at McKinley Elementary that improved the school from “under-performing” to “commendable” status for the 2018-2019 SY.

Facilitated a districtwide service meeting with physical education teachers to analyze and enhance the application of state standards in the physical education curriculum.

Co-implemented the Super Kids phonics-based kindergarten curriculum at McKinley Elementary that significantly increased reading competency and reduced the achievement gap.

Partnered with the teachers at Roosevelt to develop and institute a clear vision and strategic mission for the school, successfully improving test performance and student/staff safety.

Planned and coordinated the middle school graduation ceremonies and activities and facilitated the Eighth Grade Graduation Committee; also organized the Birthday Club. Completed training programs for SWISS, PBIS and MTSS programs.

KANKAKEE SCHOOL DISTRICT 111, Kankakee, Illinois 2014 to 2016

Principal: Lafayette Elementary School

Recruited to spearhead a turnaround program, applying a one million-dollar grant to transform an underperforming school (bottom 5% of Illinois elementary schools). Responsible for administering school operations and implementing educational curriculum, standards and goals in accordance with federal and ISBE educational policies. Member of the District Leadership Team and State Monitoring Team.

•Acted as a visible and hands-on instructional leader to aid students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds in reaching their academic, social and intellectual potential.

•Partnered with the leadership team to plan and coordinate budgets, grants and fundraisers for mentoring, technology, after-school activities and other vital programs.

Highlights:

Championed initiatives that led to the highest student PARCC math scores in the district.

Served as districtwide Homeless Liaison to intervene for students experiencing homelessness.
