VANGUARD INTERNATIONAL USA, INC., Issaquah, WA (1996-2023) PRESIDENT/CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (2014-2023)
Vanguard International is a global grower and marketer of fresh produce. The company was acquired by a private equity firm in August of 2015. Management Team reorganized in July of 2018, and my role changed from COO to President. In addition to the responsibilities of COO listed below the following roles were added:
• Reported to The Board of Directors of Blue Road Capital, Vanguard CEO and CFO on an annual, monthly, and quarterly basis.
• P&L responsibility for Vanguard Legacy core business - generated $300 million in sales, annually. CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (2012-2014)
• Primary business was procuring, selling, and transporting fresh produce from various parts of the world to other areas in need of fresh supply.
• Delivered strategic organizational, sales, and procurement leadership to eight offices: US, China, Chile, Taiwan, Spain, Indonesia, Malaysia, and South Africa, paving the way for a strong, stable operating foundation for the organization to grow through multiple team collaboration.
• Led country managers to achieve performance metrics across revenue growth, market penetration, account growth, and retention objectives.
• China: Turned around legal and morality issues by hiring a new country manager to oversee Sales and Operations in China. All existing staff replaced at the time as well.
• Tackled supply challenges through convention attendance and in country meetings by leading value-based conversations with owners, commercial directors, and sales managers.
• Involved with global ocean carriers prior to deregulation of the USA shipping industry in May of 1999.

• Led sales, logistics, and operations teams, to a 36% revenue increase, 24% growth per unit gross margin, 68% reduction in claim losses resulting in a 60% total gross margin increase.
• Hired, trained, and led a 7-member team for three consecutive years. Based on growth, the team grew 43%.
• Directed and revamped sales compensation program, setting the stage for low employee turnover, increased customer development and retention, and reduced claim losses.

• Brought on board as a Sales Associate for Exports, generating $30M in revenue per annum in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
