Hiring Manager
Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to express my interest in a full-time position with your organization. With more than 26 years of experience in customer service, administrative support, and office management at Odyssey Training Company, I have developed a strong ability to manage operations, support clients, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced environment.
Throughout my career, I have served as Registrar, Office Manager, and Administrative Assistant. I have worked directly with students and instructors, coordinated class schedules, managed accounts payable and receivable, processed billing and bank deposits, and ensured that certification documentation met state requirements. I also implemented improvements to the company’s filing system and billing procedures, helping create a more organized and efficient office environment.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I helped transition our training programs from in-person classes to online and virtual platforms. For the past six years, I have successfully managed daily operations remotely, maintaining clear communication with students, instructors, and vendors. My experience has strengthened my problem-solving skills and my ability to adapt to change while continuing to provide dependable support.
Odyssey Training Company will be closing due to federal funding cuts and the owner’s retirement. As a result, I am seeking a stable, long-term opportunity where I can contribute my experience, reliability, and strong work ethic to a supportive team. I take pride in being dependable, organized, and approachable, and I am committed to helping organizations operate smoothly and serve their clients well.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my background and skills can benefit your team. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you.
Sincerely,
Robin Oakes

To whom it may concern,
This is a letter of reference for Robin Oakes. I am the owner and director of Odyssey Training Company, a state-licensed facility providing all the training required to become a certified addiction counselor in the State of Colorado. Odyssey Training Center has been a leader in addiction counselor training for 27 years and has evolved from an entirely in person office setting to an online platform during that time. Robin was the first person hired because I was impressed with her enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Since then, she has been instrumental in the continuation of the company, while navigating the changes and developing new skills. Robin has been a key factor in our success and growth.
Currently, Robin’s job title is Student Registrar and Director of Operations. Robin assists all of the students in navigating the extensive state requirements to become a certified addiction counselor. As registrar, she has become an expert on the state’s rules and regulations in order to guide each individual to the best training schedule. Her efforts ensure our students’ success as she follows and mentors them. Robin also coordinates with the training staff when scheduling all of the classes, getting their input and accommodating their personal schedules. Robin closely monitors class attendance and resolves any technical issues effectively. Robin makes sure the materials are uploaded, class roster is complete so the class can begin efficiently and professionally for both the training staff and the students. As Director of Operations, Robin manages all payable and receivable accounts, including numerous training contracts with agencies throughout the state. Robin works with many contractors and vendors who provide services to Odyssey, ensuring the web and training sites operate smoothly.
Robin is dependable, responsible and takes initiative. She works independently for the most part but consults with me when there is an issue that is outside of her scope. I have relied on her partnership for nearly 3 decades and she has consistently demonstrated integrity, professionalism and dedication beyond expectation.
It is with regret that due to drastic federal funding cuts for addiction training, Odyssey will be closing its doors after almost 30 years. It was my hope for Robin to take over the business and it is regrettable that that plan is no longer feasible.
In conclusion, Robin would be an asset to any organization, and I give her my highest recommendation. Any organization would be fortunate to have her as part of the team. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like more information.
Sincerely,
Michael Connelly, MA, LAC
