MULTICULTURAL & INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

During my lifetime, I have lived in Mexico, the United States, Sweden, and Vietnam. I have visited

and/or worked as a missionary in various countries, including Spain, France, Canada, Guatemala, Finland, Switzerland, and Italy. I have also lived in multicultural cities like Los Angles, and San Diego, CA; Stockholm, Sweden; Providence, RI, Tucson, AZ, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. These life experiences have helped me acquire multicultural skills that enable me to be sensitive to cultural and regional expectations and to achieve goals without breaking social norms. And in addition to being bilingual, I am also bicultural. This is because my birth country and culture are Mexico, in which I lived until the age of seventeen and my adoptive country and culture is the United States, in which I have lived for a total of 32 years.

ADDITIONAL RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

• Conducted the research study “Integrated behavioral health needs assessment in community health centers in Asia” (HRP-503b) in partnership with ASU and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
