To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to formally report a serious violation of my privacy rights and harassment that I have experienced as a result of a group loan I received from Grameen America, Inc., located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
My name is Alma Raeziul, and I received a business-purpose loan from Grameen America on May 23, 2025, under the loan group 9-075 with disbursement number 100082642. Nature of Complaint:
Since entering into this loan agreement, I have been subjected to the following unlawful and unethical behavior:
● Public sharing of my private loan and payment information on social media platforms, including [list platforms, e.g., Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc.]
● Harassment and shaming by individuals associated with my loan group and/or Grameen representatives.
● Emotional distress caused by the exposure of my financial situation to the public and personal network.
This behavior violates several federal and state laws, including but not limited to:
● The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) – which prohibits public disclosure of debts and harassment.
● The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) – which mandates responsible reporting and handling of consumer financial information.
● The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) – which requires financial institutions to protect consumer financial privacy.
● New York State consumer protection and privacy laws. I understand that Grameen America operates under a group lending model, which may include shared financial responsibilities among members. However, no clause in the agreement permits the public dissemination of personal loan information, nor does it allow for public humiliation or coercion.
Requested Action:
I am respectfully requesting the following:
1.A formal investigation into the practices of Grameen America and the individuals involved.
2.Immediate removal of all social media posts or messages that disclose my private loan information.
3.Assurance that my privacy rights under state and federal law will be respected moving forward.
4.If applicable, disciplinary action or penalties against the institution or individuals responsible.
5.The right to seek damages for emotional distress and defamation, should legal action become necessary.
