I work with the Department of the Navy, Public/Private Shipyard, Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, (SWRMC) and it's tenant commands. I work with all levels of the Fleet to provide and improve ship material and condition, maintenance, logistics, and modernization. I receive work from the type commanders and NAVSEA in the form of Ship alt's, Boat alt's, 2-Kilo's, Automated Work Request's
(AWR), special manufacturing request and Special Project Data, Etc. I review the work requests to determine the level/scope of work required. I plan the scope of work, estimate the material requirements and man hours. I currently receive automatic work requests and review blueprints, work spec's to insure proper job specifications and performance. I provide direct support to the Project Manager (PM) and Port Engineer (PE) on all project issues. I perform ship checks to determine job estimated for man-hour and material costs. Witness and accepts or rejects test of ships machinery, propulsion systems, piping, tanks, Combat Systems and other complex systems based on contractor quality standards. In the process of inspecting repairs by contractors I issue corrective actions on ensuring deficiencies are corrected. Ensure that test results are documented. Monitor the progress of work assigned to depot level shops to ensure jobs are completed on time and in accordance with Quality Assurance Standards until the work is closed out properly. Assist the Repair Officer, Project Manager, Port Engineer to coordinate I level and Depot level work packages. Review formal and controlled production work packages are technically written properly and shop can complete assigned tasks. Observe operational testing to ensure work is within Q.A. standards. Inducts work into the Navy Enterprise Maintenance Automated Information System (NEMESIS). Determines Lead Work Center, start and stop dates. Ensures AWRs/2-Kilos are complete and correct. Conduct ship checks to determines scope of work. Attend meetings pre-arrival conference, arrival and daily production conferences for scope of work to be accomplished and work that is pending ad hearing to safety regulations with ship's Commanding Officer, Contractor Representatives, and SUP SHIP Personnel. I prepare status reports consisting of job completion percentages, milestone reviews, and any other significant information that may affect contract milestones. I am currently working more than one availability and my responsibilities are in the millions of dollars for ship's requested repairs and alterations. I review and evaluate contractors recommendations for additional or deletion of work through written CFR's in Execution. I actively work with all Safety Personnel to ensure the safety of Ships Force, Contractors, Navy Personnel and Government Employees.

Responsibilities include arming and disarming alarm and vault systems, in charge of combinations for vaults and doors, making sure all monies are accounted for, to the penny. In charge of replenishing ATM's, cash boxes at gas stations, customer's request for picking up and delivering of money as needed, also responsible for all keys to various locations on route and for personnel, (driver, guard and vehicle). All paperwork from customers needs to be filled out correctly and in a timely manner. This job requires me to be certified and carry a firearm at all times.

SIMA Detachment Coronado Naval Base. Under general supervision rebuild and/or repair the basic structure of various types of boats to include Boston Whalers, Landing Crafts, Vehicle Personnel (CVP) 26' to 40' personnel boats, rigid hull inflatable boats, (RHIB) using one of several methods suitable to the type and construction of the boat based on inspection to determine damage or deterioration. Write boat inspection report and job orders to include sketches, drawings, templates and diagrams. Plan and estimate material and man hour requirements for required repairs. Structural repairs are typically made following blue prints and sketches of heavily damaged wooden and fiberglass marine craft to include ship board GRP life rails and stanchions. Building and/or repair of ribs, cross beams. Make fiberglass molds and repairs on installed oak, rubber, metal, Kevlar clothes, and fiberglass. Replace buoyancy foam and re-calk seams to insure watertight integrity and install such alterations as decks, cabinets and new equipment. Repair in precision grind fiberglass hulls and spacers for mounting I and V type struts to insure correct tolerances. Cut and install glass and/or Plexiglas in repair of windows and windshields. Fabricate and install floatation material. After repair is completed, apply the appropriate paint to the part and/or the boat. Insure that material and equipment is properly stored, protected and maintained. Instruct Military personnel in the proper and safe procedures used in the repair and maintenance of boats to include proper and safe use of hand and power tools such as, saw, drills, jointers, sanders, grinders, respiration equipment, etc. Proper use and storage of materials utilized in making repairs. Oversee contractor personnel assigned to sand and repair fiberglass. Conduct on sight quality assurance and quality control in accordance with Joint Fleet Maintenance Manuel. Provide estimates for labor and material to accomplish repairs on crafts and ships assigned. Provide statements of work to supply for work to be contracted out. Final work acceptance is accomplished for contracted work. In the presence of inspecting repairs by contractors I issue corrective actions on insuring deficiencies are corrected. Part-time (Seasonal)
