DRS Architects - Business Development Director 2023-Present DRS Architects is a highly respected architectural firm in Pittsburgh. Here I “hunt” new business with engineering firms, healthcare, higher education, senior care, data centers, developers and contractors.
Carl Walker Construction - Director of Sales 2021-2023 Carl Walker Construction is a specialty commercial construction company devoted to building new & restoring old parking garages up & down the Mid-West & East Coast. Work mostly with high-end developers, architects, engineering firms, concrete pre-casters, hospitals, colleges and municipalities, traveling through 10 states, 3-4 days a week. The average quote for a parking garage is $10M $15M, recently closing one for $35M. Quadrupled sales volume in 2022 from 2021 ($25M - $100M), accomplished by having Carl Walker Construction’s sales team become “hunters” and not “farmers.” Worked closely in measuring and analyzing ROI’s and KPI’s.
MBCI– Northeast Regional Sales Manager 2019-2021
MBCI is a large manufacturer of commercial metal roofing / metal siding / pre-engineered metal buildings / self-storage metal buildings / IMPs for the residential & commercial market. I worked remotely and traveled to 14 states in the Northeast, marketing mostly to engineers, contractors, industrial, plant managers, architects, and large projects. Road warrior working from the road 4 out of 5 days every week. In almost 3 years, with the help of CRM and an inside sales team, I surpassed the annual volume in the Northeast (over $12M) and being recognized as the most valuable employee for 2020 with the affiliate company DBCI. Modern Wall Systems – Director of Sales 2015-2019
Modern Wall Systems fabricates and installs commercial glass curtain walls, insulated metal panels, storefront systems, and insulated metal panels for commercial buildings. I called on architects, developers, engineers, and commercial/residential builders. Here I developed a knack for getting an audience with new people and earning their trust and business in a short time frame by cold calling. I set the largest jobs ever sold by the company ($2.5M) and put a new company name on the map in Pittsburgh. I was responsible for keeping manufacturing working to full capacity within a three state radius. I also oversaw the P&L with a focus on EBITDA. sales in the company’s 45 years. Hardwood Interiors – National Sales Manager/Partner Owner 2007-2015 Hardwood Interiors manufactures custom cabinetry, moldings, doors, and flooring for up- scale residential and commercial properties. As a partner in the business, I took total responsibility for driving and managing all national sales activity, margins, and P & L results. I directed all activities of 8 sales representatives and 2 designers. The territory includes OH, PA, MD, WV, VA, and DC. I coordinated sales and product customization with company partners at the manufacturing facilities, launched new product lines of wood products
(mostly custom cabinetry, trim, and hardwood flooring) by calling on architects, interior designers, and commercial builders. By recognizing the company’s customizing capabilities, created a sales marketing plan to penetrate and sell unique and customized wood products directly to the upscale building industry. We targeted premier contractors building properties priced from $2M - $200M. I grew the business from $0 - $6.5M in 8 years by generating architectural sales calls, increasing sales staff, diversifying and customizing products, creating higher margins, and ensuring exclusivity and service to clients. I trained the sales staff in product knowledge, how to cold call builders and architects, and how to sell to a high-end market. We held numerous architectural box lunches for education and product promotion.
