Parks and Recreation Aide – Part-time Position

JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting with Recreation and athletic events.
MAJOR DUTIES
Organizes, plans and decorates for events.
Greets the public.
Maintains filing system
Answers sports program and events questions.
Monitors building, fields, gym and facilities activities.
Assists athletic staff, administration, and maintenance staff as needed to prepare for practices, games, activities, and events.
Engage in game operations-clock, scorebook, referee, etc.
Maintain and clean up the fields, gymnasium, Community building, and surrounding areas prior to and after all games, activities, events, and practices.
Supervise coaches and practices/games.
Assist in advertising and promoting sports for both youth and adults.
Provide great customer service to customers and ensure parents/coaches receive accurate information.
Cleans and sanitizes building as needed.
Assist athletic staff with maintaining and organizing practices and games.
Assists with cleaning of facilities.
Oversee the maintenance and operation of recreation facilities.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of principals, practices, and procedures of the Recreation Department.
Knowledge of recreational programs as the recreation department’s representative.
Skill in demonstrating good judgement when dealing with the public.
Skill in operating a computer, facsimile, copier, and all job related software.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in interpersonal relations and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must obtain GRPA Training & Certifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects; will climb ladders.
The work is typically performed in a recreational center or outdoors. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, and grease and to machinery with moving parts. The work is performed outdoors occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
