U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS)
1995 – 1999: Program Management
Responsible for managing all aspects of $100,000 annual training and travel budget for the DOE Office of Environmental Management
1999 – 2005: Human Resources Program Manager:
Responsible for writing and certifying position descriptions for a wide range of technical positions withing the U.S. DOE. Also developed the Technical Training program for the Defense Nuclear Safety Board Program at DOE.
2006 – 2024: Chief Financial Officer Budget Analyst for the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions pension plan which required $300,000,000 in annual contributions and a comprehensive understanding of the Employee Retirement Income and Security Act (ERISA) federal regulations. Also served as Budget Analyst for the $30 million per year Nuclear Deactivation program which required extensive knowledge of Federal Appropriations Law.
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Accountant responsible for oversite of the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions annual statement of cost incurred which documented $1,500,000,000 in annual funding. Duties included reporting unallowable costs to the DOE Finance Director. Duties also included working with the U. S. Department of Justice on Criminal cases against Savannah River Site (SRS) contractors to include providing testimony under oath on technical issues concerning SRS contract matters.
Also created fully automated accounting and budget reports by downloading gigabytes of accounting data from Oracle Business Intelligence software and by writing data mining code to replace a manual process which improved accuracy and saved significant labor hours for the CFO staff.
