This position requires basically teaching customers how to operate an electronic device over the phone and providing them with an efficient knowledge of how to operate their device sometimes from the opening of the device all the way to downloading books and other options available to them. Here I worked mostly on my own with little to no supervision, unless a management personnel member must be contacted upon customer request. While working with the customer base I would do account research/resolution, as our goal was first call resolution and I wanted to resolve any customer issue as quickly and proficiently as possible every time, however, my goal was to always ensure the customer felt comfortable with their purchases to give to stand with the company standard of First Call Resolution. Although we were held to a very high standard to meet the quality and production numbers set forth by the company regarding the amount of time spent with customers on the phone, I never once received negative feedback from any customer I ever assisted. Most calls received would be regarding and attempt to arrange payment plans or extensions on account balances, where judgement and company rules must be followed to assist in these manners. Always verifying detailed account information to obtain access to customer information and ensuring that the person speaking was the account holder and not someone fraudulently calling in attempting to access account information or make account changes unbeknownst to the actual account holder. Listening carefully was a key role in this position as you may obtain information that must be relayed to the fraud department to prevent customer who may owe large account balances, and they attempt to get service in a fraudulent manner, which must be escalated to the fraud department for investigation. Updating account information if discrepancies were found so the customer can always be contacted in the event of an emergency or changes in service if encountered. Work mandatory overtime in the event of inclement weather that could affect the customer base to take outage calls so that plans for restorations could be made in the most efficient ways possible, while relaying this to the customers as they called in for outage reports. Ability to deescalate calls when customers were being irate and screaming due to outages that were occurring, or scheduled work was being executed. I was also trained to work with new construction customers and land developers for electric to be established when and where they would need an installation. This would include very detailed information being obtained by the caller so that it could be relayed to the field operations. This meant working directly with field operations and the customers/developers in reference to work orders. Keeping detailed notes on all customers’ accounts, including all transactions performed for each caller is vital for any future contact made. The most important thing to this job was First Call Resolution, and to maintain the highest and strictest time frames spent with a customer on the phone.
