Hello, I have been teaching 30 years in the Peoria Unified & Deer Valley Unified School District, in Phoenix, Arizona. USA. the last 15 years in a title 1 high school, teaching Geometry I have attended numerous district workshops over the years. I have a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, A Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, A Bachelors of Science In Educational Mathematics . As well as the 60 seat hours needed for the structured English immersion endorsement on my Arizona Teachers certificate,. Where I am Certified as Highly Effective in all facets Mathematics, High School Physics and High School Chemistry.

I believe student learning is best facilitated in a classroom where the teacher has “readiness”. By “readiness” I mean lesson planning for each period of each day with a main learning objective and, if necessary, several sub-objectives. Most of the strategies that I have used over the years have come from Fred Jones’ Positive Classroom Instruction & Positive Classroom Discipline. Starting with the student’s desks; they should all be facing the Instruction in a cathedral like manner even if in cooperative learning pairs or quartiles. Also included in lessons; teacher modeling, student guided practice, and unguided practice to take the learning from short term to long term memory. I use Bell quizzes, to the board, modeling board meetings, passed the chalk relays, ticket out the door as well as Jeopardy as a system of checks for understanding. These hands on activities as well as labs keep student interest in a positive way. I feel when a student is interested in his/her learning this provides the student with a better chance at academic success.

I feel that I would make great addition to the teaching staff of your institution.
