Hello

I would like to apply for the Production Test Technician II-EV position posted on postjobfree.com. I meet the required qualifications and believe I would be a perfect fit for the position. One of my most pertinent job experiences was with EV company Hyliion in Cedar Park, TX doing assembly, wring and testing. As a technician, I have over 20 years experience. Attention to detail, quality work and excellent problem solving skills are only a few of my strong points. I am extremely competent working on both fine-pitch surface-mount components as well as through-hole. I am able to assemble, rework and repair printed circuit boards with them. I always use customer-specified parts, solder, flux and procedures. I have extensive wiring-harness experience. I am IPC-A-610 certified. I helped design and built a Peltier-based cooling system for the head of a medical skin laser. I also briefly worked for a company building dental office air purifiers. I am very persistent in problem solving and have found that many solutions can be found simply by keen observation of the physical assembly, noting the symptoms and starting with the basics. Simple things like wiring, power supply, bad/cold solder joints, crimps, loose screws or evidence of excessive heat are often keys to finding the culprit in many failures. Solve these issues before blindly replacing a suspected part. Repetitive assembly of the same item has never caused lack of focus. Being asked to stop one task and immediately begin another is often expected in any job environment. I can accommodate. When given an objective my goal is always to finish it properly and on time. Compliance is expected and presents no problem. I communicate well and am not shy in asking questions, answering them or helping a fellow employee. I understand and follow proper ESD prevention procedures. I make it a point of knowing where the MSD sheets are and follow them. I always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required and own steel toed shoes.

My experience also includes successfully repairing a number of my home appliances and automobiles. My hobbies back up my experience and include electronic and mechanical design and construction of projects including power and pre amplifiers. In addition to common tools, I own and operate metal lathes, welders, presses, band saws and air tools. I built a Volvo racecar that I am competitive in. I have built custom tools that are not sold or I refuse to purchase. The local electronic supply store knows me by name. My home lab includes oscilloscopes, signal generators, two distortion analyzers, DMM's, a professional Metcal soldering station, power supplies and thousands of active and passive parts. You may note that my employment at Detection Dynamics overlaps with other positions. This is due to the consulting and occasional contract work I did with them. OptoDigital Design was a startup company when I joined. I followed them from California to Texas in 1991. I am never in fear of joining a new company and contributing all I can to make it successful. Every company has potential. Your location is an easy commute.

I am familiar with a number of CAD programs including LT Spice, Express PCB, Express Schematic and Autosketch. Learning new software is a challenge I will always accept. I can easily search for and order parts from distributors such as Mouser, McMaster Carr and Digikey. I have personal accounts with them.

I look forward to an interview and starting as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Michael G. Wells
