Panera Bread - Cary NC, 27518- March 2024
Position: Food Prep/Pull to Thaw and making salads.
Analyze a list of foods that need to be prepped for the day and make sure to prep the foods that urgently need to be prepped first.
Filled the sink up with water and washed the fruits and vegetables before chopping.
Chopped Fruits, vegetables, and cut meats.
Put the prepped foods in 9th, 3rd, and 6th pans.
Printed out stickers of the dates and time of when the food was prepped and attached it to the pans.
Checked a list of foods that have been completed so far.
Go to the cooler room and put the pans on the shelves and place each pan in order. I also had to make sure to put the older pans that were prepped days ago to the front of the shelf and put the new pans that were prepped the same day to the back. Because it is important for the employees to use the food that was already prepped yesterday or days ago before using the new foods that were prepped.
After I finished prepping, I would clean everything up, put the used cutting boards, utensils, and bowls in the sink for it to get washed. I also would wipe and sterilize my prep stationery until everything is nice and clean, including sweeping the floor in my prep area.
After I clean up everything, next I will pull to thaw. Which means I must check and calculate how many foods are left on the “pull to thaw” shelf. If there are some foods that need to be added, I will have to go into the freezer, open boxes of the frozen foods that were in storage and then go to the cooler room and place it on the shelves. I also had to print out the date/time of when the frozen foods were put on the shelves and place the stickers on the frozen food packages.
Other than food prepping, I also make salads for the customers. Such as following the steps that are shown on the television screen of making the salads in the correct order.
I also was training new employers and upcoming managers on how to prep foods and how to pull to thaw. I showed them the correct way on how to cut fruits, vegetables, and meats. I also helped them measure the cutting appliances to a certain number before starting to cut the fruits and vegetables.
I received a compliment from an auditor that I am one of the best food preps that he has ever seen. He also noticed that I kept my stationary very neat and clean.
I always receive compliments from my general manager, assistant manager, and director of operations that I do an amazing job with prep. They love how organized I am, such as neatly putting the pans of fruits, vegetables, and meats in their own category spot when I place it on shelves inside of the cooler, making sure the foods are measured and filled correctly inside of the pans. They also love how I make sure there are specific amounts of frozen foods that need to be put on the trays during pull to thaw, and when I finished prepping the food in the kitchen, I always make sure to clean up after myself at my own work stationary.
I also get compliments from my general manager that I’m a very nice and kind person that has an amazing smile and a great team player who likes to get the work done and help other employees. My managers always appreciate me and know that I am very dependable, especially whenever there are days it can be very busy in the kitchen and may need my help working on other job positions in the kitchen such as washing dishes, sweeping and mopping the floors, putting certain foods in the oven, and making the salads.
Harris Teeters – Cary NC, 27511- June 2024
Position: Bagger
Help put customers' groceries in plastic bags, paper bags, or tote bags and place them in their carts.
When putting the groceries in the bag, I make sure to put all the cold and freezer in the same bag and make sure to put the shelf foods in another bag to separate it. I also would put the same category of foods in one bag. For example, all diary groceries go in one bag, all fruits or vegetables are placed in another bag.
I also help the customers put their bags, heavy water bottles and cans of soda in their car when it’s needed and when it’s too heavy for them to carry on their own. It is also important to help the customers who are elderly, have children, or are injured to help put their groceries in the trunk or inside of the car for them.
Make sure to collect all the shopping carts from the parking lots and put them in the store where they belong. Because it’s important that the store must have enough carts inside for the customers.
Make sure to clean up spills on the floor, sweep the floors, and scan the 43 buttons that are located throughout the aisle and bathrooms which are called the docks.
If the customers need help finding an item in the aisle, I make sure to do everything I can to help them find what they’re looking for so they can be satisfied and happy when leaving the store.
I always make sure to smile and make the customers feel welcome when entering the store. I also check to see if the customers have everything they need and make sure, they leave the store with a smile on their faces as well.
I was rewarded with a gift card by my manager, because many customers complimented me about how nice, friendly, and helpful I am towards them.
