INITIATED, FORMULATED, AND PLANNED ALGORYTHMES FOR CERTAIN MOLECULAR AND CONVENTIONAL TESTS; specifically hired to increase productivity and reduce testing times for EID. Utilize various real-time PCR platforms to detect viruses and bacteria such as: influenza virus, including the 2009 Pandemic influenza and Asian H5N1 influenza, Bordetella pertussis (B. pertussis), Norovirus, etc. BSL3 CERTIFIED THROUGH THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGAITON. Performed various investigations on specimens often used in bio-terrorism (i.e. C.Bot, Ebola, B. Anthracis, f. Tularensis etc.)

SAMPLING PROCEDURES: Utilize certain molecular and conventional microbiology techniques to identify and characterize suspect agents. Conventional techniques include biochemicals and special stains. Molecular techniques consist of DNA/RNA extraction, amplification, and identification of target gene sequences to detect the presence of certain select agents. Collected and analyzed biological data to determine conclusions and results. Determined appropriate sampling procedures. Performed a variety of routine analytical procedures used to analyze samples. Recognized and detected unusual results during sample testing. Used findings to resolve novel or controversial problems. Made recommendations based on evaluated data and determined whether tested samples met regulatory requirements. Reported, analyzed, and interpreted bacteria data and illustration of data through Microsoft Excel as well as PowerPoint.
