To hiring manager –
I have worked my entire life, ever since getting my Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
I worked in Corporate America (at Monsanto Chemical Company, St. Louis, right out of college), and at Invention Incorporated in Washington DC while my husband was in the military.
I worked from home once I started having a family, always doing transcription and proofreading services (mostly for attorney and court reporters).
My husband’s job took us to Topeka KS; Columbus OH; Syracuse NY; Freehold NJ; and finally Hudson OH. I did transcription and proofreading services in every one of those places.
When we divorced shortly after moving to Hudson, I went back to Corporate America (Lanxess, which ultimately turned into Bayer Corporation) because I needed a set income and, of course, health insurance for my family.
In the beginning, a court reporter I worked for in Topeka, who said he did not want to lose me, had continued to mail me tapes over several years. I always sent the transcriptions back by Greyhound bus, no easy task. My children still say today that if they woke up in the night, they could always hear me typing, since I worked at Lanxess in the day, but did the transcription and proofreading in the night. It was quite an adventure, but I actually loved it. When that court reporter retired, I continued at Lanxess/Bayer until I retired.
I thought I might like to go into Medical Coding and Billing and got my certification two months ago. Now I find that AI is pretty much replacing medical coders, so I would love to go back to working from home and doing what I always enjoyed so much – transcription and proofreading services.
I look forward to hearing from you and discussing my qualifications in more detail.
Best regards,
Sharon Bachmann
