Spanish Language and Latin American Culture V/VI trains the student to be able to speak with fluency and to communicate complex and/or abstract ideas. Students are exposed to cultural readings and authentic materials, including video clips, documentaries and films. Students have extensive opportunities to practice presentation skills in Spanish; to write accurately and idiomatically; to engage in cultural research, and to interact with native speakers through our in-class Skype sessions. This class is conducted primarily in Spanish with interactive materials that support 21st century learning objectives and ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) standards, as well as with ISTE (International Society for Technology Education) goals and benchmarks. Prerequisite: Spanish Language and Latin American Culture IV or faculty recommendation. This course may be taken at Honors level with instructor permission and completed KMS Honors Contract.
