2006 to 2025 Atlanta Public Schools Atlanta, GA
Technology Manager & Wireless Analyst
During my employment at APS, I underwent two high level management changes and reorganizations. I started as manager of all district technology purchases and deployment. I managed and trained a team of six highly skilled technicians in network & wireless troubleshooting. I was also tasked with determining and researching the best district wide wireless (WiFi) solution for our students and staff 30,000 wireless devices and to support BYOD. Later because of my background in RF communications, I was offered the position of district wireless analyst. My responsibilities included the monitoring, installation and project management of over 6000 Cisco Meraki wireless access points in over 97 schools, including admin sites. My thorough understanding of RF, RF propagation, antennas, interference issues and tools for analysis such as spectrum analyzers and network analysis tools helped to insure minimum downtime and a robust wireless experience for our students and staff. In addition, because of my background in technical education, I was also responsible for designing the first training curriculum for all school technicians in “The fundamentals of RF and wireless (WiFi) troubleshooting”.

Instructional Technology Specialist
As a part of the ITS team I conducted workshops, seminars, and training sessions to teachers and other staff members. I assisted principals with observing the process of instructional delivery in the classroom and aided in the assessment of collected data from those observations. Also, assisted teachers in promoting the integration of technology into the classroom and in resolving technology based issues.

As the schools technical consultant it was my job to configure workstations for network and internet connectivity as well as keep them functional. With over 300 PC's from various manufacturers such as HP, Dell and IBM, I have seen hundreds of hardware, software and connectivity problems. It was also my job function to keep software updated and to keep teachers and administrators up to date on the latest changes. Adding and configuring additional electronics such as network cards, switches, print servers and fiber media converters was also part of my assignment as the network expands. In addition I was responsible for system backup and recovery as well as the training of teachers and administrative staff on Microsoft Windows and Office.

I was responsible for the training of teachers and administrative staff in
the Microsoft Office Suite of applications. I also designed
training courses, such as “Introduction to Computers”, "Introduction to Computer Networking", "Troubleshooting Windows", "Everything you wanted to know
about computers but were afraid to ask", "Using MS-Office in a networked
environment" and “Beyond PowerPoint". These were just a few of the many courses I have taught. Out of more than 5000 clients I have personally trained during this time, my evaluations have never been short of perfect.

As department head my tasks were numerous. I was responsible for the evaluation of my technical staff,
curriculum design, as well as providing my instructors with the resources needed for daily instruction.
I taught electronics and computer technology along with courses such as C, C++, Intro to computers, Windows OS and Intro to Networking. I personally engineered and installed the first computer network used at Herzing College, Atlanta and I designed the first Novell networking course for Herzing College and acted as the schools network administrator. My dedication, knowledge and teaching skills were rewarded by being chosen "Teacher of the year" and "National Teacher of the Year" for Herzing College.

Technical Training Specialist (contract)
During this period of time General Motors was about to undergo a radical change in manufacturing
technology. The traditional (manual) methods of producing their products was not efficient enough nor cost effective. New technology involving robotics, computers and
sophisticated electronics was on the horizon. But to accomplish this, staff had to be
re-trained in the use of this new technology. As a result the GM-10 Project was birthed,
which involved myself and about 25 other SME’s of various
technology disciplines, to retrain their staff. My primary focus of training was in pneumatics and hydraulics, computer technology, robotics, data-communication and solid state electronics.

As a customer training specialist, my responsibility focused on the technical training of American allies who purchased military aircraft from Lockheed.
