I am currently the VP of finance for S&R Truck in Marshfield, previously I was the corporate controller for Tribe 9 Foods in Madison for nearly 2 years. I have been the Director of Finance for Family Health La Clinica, a federally qualified healthcare clinic. I have been a CFO within the Business Operations group of CliftonLarsonAllen. Throughout my +40 year career, I have primarily served as a trusted partner on the leadership team for family held businesses. My focus has been on ensuring that businesses have enough working capital to grow and on administrative and governance efficiencies, to create value for the business. This experience has exposed me to all areas of administration and business management. I bring a straightforward approach to any role and incorporates elements of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement into the accounting, finance and administrative functions.
Experience
My experience as a CFO and non-voting member of the Board of directors for several family held businesses has allowed him to create value for each of these businesses. In addition, I have worked with the BODs to develop relevant management reporting as well as broader KPI’s and strategic investment analysis.
In addition, I worked for Honeywell as an Area Controller as well as a Senior Marketing Manager. These roles provided exposure to the many different businesses Honeywell has. I participated on a team that educated Honeywell’s field branch managers on the alarm monitoring business.
I helped sell a bankrupt company to NSP (an Energy Company) for over $12M.
I purchased a label manufacturer on behalf of the family business in Brazil. I had to learn about a different culture, a different language (Portuguese) and find a translator for the key documents.
I have managed the administrative functions of a family business in Europe. I learned about the different tax and GAAP requirements from the US.
I have managed operations departments while being a CFO, which include purchasing, maintenance and warehousing functions.
I have had to change out auditors, bankers and insurance carriers, health and business. I understand the importance of making sure good communication both internal and external occur.
I have worked with several startups. This has given me exposure to funding, shareholder requirements and cash flow management and forecasting.
I have also taken a company from the public sector to the private sector.
I educate employees about their benefits, increasing participation rates in company 401k to over 90%.
