Greater Columbus Convention Center – Assistant Chief Engineer 2014 to 2020

Hire, supervise, train and discipline personnel in assigned department.

Manage major facility contracts including but not limited to HVAC, Elevator, Escalator, Landscaping/Irrigation System.

Develop and train staff to ensure technical competence.

Schedule staff, monitor labor hours and prepares reports for payroll processing.

Manage utility usage and purchases to ensure maximum savings.

Quote/purchase as required in all areas of department.

Review event documents for engineering/operational issues. Recommend solutions.

Coordinate activities to ensure guest comfort in complex relating to HVAC.

Monitor/record chilled water/hot water usage by hotel clients for billing purposes.

Monitor repair activity to minimize equipment downtime and inconvenience to events and facility tenants.

Ensure all equipment is maintained according to manufacturer specifications and maintains accurate records.

Monitor, enhance, recommend and implement formal preventative maintenance programs for all facility mechanical systems and appropriate equipment.

Oversee Dude Solutions program/Lutron System/Tracer Summit System/Johnson Control System/Comfort Control System/Ungerbeock and Fin Light controls.

Assist in the preparation of yearly operational, capital budget and rolling 5-year capital budget plan while ensuring savings for scheduled HVAC and lighting systems.

Meet with contractors to obtain quotes or scope of work proposals for maintenance and/or repairs.

Assist in overseeing activities of construction projects, vendors, subcontractors and city and county services.

Maintenance of annual permit requirements; boiler, elevator, backflow inspection, life safety, etc.

Assist in the development of a formal energy conservation plan that includes lighting upgrades, new technology enhancements and tighter enforcement of established energy management directives.

Monitor and administer department policy and procedure requirements and maintain sub-department rules of conduct.

Assist departments with all site visits, operations show sets, parking, garage maintenance and equipment repairs.

Assist Facility Manager with administrative duties.

Work with clients and their need for electrical, gas, air, water and phone lines.

Oversee/Assist all projects in over 2 million square foot property.

Attend weekly production meeting to discuss upcoming events.

Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical, fire, HVAC, mechanical, building automation, energy conservation, lighting control systems, kitchen equipment, telecommunications, elevators/escalators and locksmith repairs.

Good oral, written and listening skills. Good analytical skills, including ability to lead, facilitate, plan and organize.
