.—1977 thru 1980: As an Electrical Engineer, my first position after college was an Installation and Service Field Engineer for the General Electric Company out of the Kansas City office preforming task involving industrial equipment GE and other manufactures provided. I preformed installations and start-ups across the country. I also performed warranty service on GE equipment, and troubleshooting services and preventive maintenance services on GE and other manufacture’s equipment. I have been in many Power Plants on the Missouri River, including the old Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant. I was considered as one of the best at installing, starting-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting for many of the GE manufacturing plants equipment. Many times, they would call me for issues that they themselves had difficulty solving. I left the position because I was on the road constantly, missing many of our children’s functions and making for an unhappy wife.

.—1980 thru 1985: From GE, I took a position with Broderick and Bascom Wire Rope in Sedalia, MO. My position was Plant Electrical Engineer. I also acted as the Plant Engineer much of my time during this position. The plant was being constructed and just coming out of the ground when I accepted the position. I oversaw building construction and equipment installation, both electrical and mechanical. I was responsible for commissioning and start-up of all equipment. When the plant was put in service, I also supervised the electrical maintenance team and purchased all components associated with maintenance and plant upkeep. I provided electrical maintenance training and forklift training.

.—1985 thru 1987: While at Broderick and Bascom, I was offered a position at Kelsey Hayes Wheels as a Trainer and Safety Engineer. The plant had just opened with the latest state of the art industrial controllers and similar equipment. I was tasked to train employees to have the ability to program, troubleshoot, and service the advanced equipment. Successful employees were then awarded positions within the Maintenance Department. I provided in-plant forklift training and was asked to provide forklift training at the local metro college. I was also tasked to lower OSHA Recordables, which I did the first year of employment, and to prepare a “Right-to-Know” program. My Right-to-Know Program was considered one of the best in Missouri by the Missouri Department of Safety.

.—1987 thru 2008: While at Kelsey Hayes Wheels, ConAgra Foods contacted me, and I accepted the position of Facilities Electrical Engineer in the Corporate Offices. I was involved with the design of all trades, safety programs, construction, installation, tagging, and start-up of new plants and plant additions, some of which I was the Project Manager. I also did just the electrical design for any new construction, new additions, and remodeling, including new equipment additions. With many of the plants being older, I designed safe and code compliant replacement distribution equipment connected to the power companies, purchased, oversaw installation, commission, and started-up the distribution equipment, most at 12,470 and 13,200 volts. I designed, purchased components, built, and installed up to 1000 horsepower and up to 2400 volts solid state starters for ammonia refrigeration compressors. I specified all motor control centers, purchased, and oversaw installation. I created one-lines, ladder diagrams, control schematics, lighting plans, grounding schemes, and concrete pads for transformers and switchgear. ConAgra’s plants had large ammonia compressors, roof condensers, and evaporators for freezing their products. They also had large boiler rooms with large boilers. I specified, purchased, and installed most of this type of equipment. I was involved with every aspect of plant construction.

.—2008 thru 2013: I transferred to the Lamb Weston (then owned by ConAgra) corporate offices in Kennewick Washington in 2008. Lamb Weston is one of the world’s largest French Fry producers. They were in the process of designing new production facilities. I was the electrical engineer for this design process. During the five years with LW, we designed and constructed from the ground up new French Fry producing plants, including potato storage, distribution freezers, and wastewater facilities. I was involved with the electrical design, P&ID’s, safety, electrical installation, commissioning, equipment tagging, and start-up of all electrical equipment, including working with the local power distribution companies to provide power and power equipment to the plants.

.—First retirement date from ConAgra was January 1, 2014.

.—Mar 2020 thru Apr 2021: Building and Grounds Maintenance person at Nissan of Omaha. Provide maintenance on all facilities equipment – both service equipment and building equipment. Provide grounds keeping of all outside area. Many building items had not worked since first constructed. When I left, all those items were in the proper working matter. Operated forklifts, hand jacks, and scissor lifts to accomplish task as necessary. Safety company hired by Nissan of Omaha gave me high praise for correcting many safety issues. Purchase and install items – such as changing all light fixtures to LEDs. Purchase and install HVAC items. Repair automatic car wash equipment. Purchase and install items to maintain anything associated with building and grounds.

.—Jan 2023 thru Apr 2023: Wells Fargo Bank in Omaha. Teller for the Millard Branch Bank. Quit to help sail boat from East coast to West coast.

.—Apr 2023 thru July 2023: Crew member bringing 59ft sail boat from the East coast near Washington, DC through the Panama Canal to Seattle, WA.

.—Nov 2023 thru Feb 2024: Consulting Contractor Electrical Engineer working for Fisher Construction Group out of Burlington, WA. Provided overall Electrical Engineering Consulting for a new French Fry plant in Louisianna. Project was put on HOLD by the Owner Company’s Board. Still on HOLD – likely will not happen.

.—Feb 2024 to Present – Enjoying Retirement.

.—1973 thru 1977: Education – BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla.

.—1969 thru 1972: Military - US Army. 31L20 MOS (Radio & Carrier Equipment Repairman). Honorable Discharge with S5 rank. Vietnam Veteran. Top of Basic Training Class. Top of Advanced Training Class out of 1365 Army classmates.
