Final Year Research Project
Topic: Determinants Of Credit Access in Microfinance Institutions by Arable Crop Farmers
ABSTRACT
This study examined that Access to Credit is a critical factor influencing the productivity and sustainability of small holder Arable crop farmers. This study investigates the determinants of credit Access from microfinance institutions (MFIs) among Arable crop farmers. Using a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from a representative sample of farmers through structured questionnaires and analyzed using logistics regression models. The results revered that socio-economic characteristic such as farm size, education level, arming experience, household income and membership in farmer cooperatives significantly influence access to microfinance credit. Institutional factors including interest rates, collateral requirements, loan processing time and proximity to microfinance institutions were found to play crucial roles in Agriculture. The study highlights the need for policy intervention that strengthens farmer MFI linkages, streamline credit delivery mechanism and promote financial literacy. Enhancing access to microfinance credit is imperative for improving farm productivity, ensuring food security and fostering rural development. These findings provide empirical insights for policy makers, financial institutions and development partners aiming to improve credit accessibility for arable crop farmers.
