AKEEM WEATHERSPOON

PROFILE

I’m a respectful person and I like working. I have lots of experience in the landscaping and food industries with a little bit of auto mechanic experience. Most of my free time I play video games or, Instacart. I love trying new food places and good music. Born in, raised in Mississippi, I love the Magnolia State. I’m looking for a career after all these years of bouncing around jobs. And to balance my responsibilities with my work life is my ultimate goal. I graduated from Murrah High School class of 2020. I’ve worked many places like UPS, Koch Foods, Zaxbys, Kasai North America, and still trying to work construction. EXPERIENCE

SIMON A.B. REMODELING CANTON,MS — 2018-PRESENT

This is where I’ve worked with my in laws every summer and it means more to me than just a job because the most important thing is family on this job site. ROUSER CONSTRUCTION AND REMODELING JACKSON, MS-2022-PRESENT Rouser construction is a branch off of Simon Remodeling in the North Jackson and relatively close areas around. This is where I learned more about the construction work and how to run a business.

MCDONALD’S RESTAURANT

McDonald’s Restaurant Franchise in Madison, Ms is where I did my first ever paper application. The nostalgia, I don’t think I’ve ever been that anxious and nervous. But being in ninth grade and band, along with a job, I can admit I was not built for it. The play pen had a smell that made my shoes frown. The unlimited chicken nuggets around the place and wasted chocolate milk was a routine for me to clean up. I was a cashier, but they handed me a broom, trash pan, along with a bucket of water with about two towels, so that I could start my new job as the janitor.

SCHLOTZSKY’S & CINNABON

I started working here in Flowood, Ms because I didn’t know that they had another location in Madison. Schlotzsky’s was where I went after I was told that I was “too cool” for band. I mean I was literally blowing my lungs into an instrument in front of hundreds of people 2-3 times a week along with competition on Saturdays. How cool could I be? No one thinks cool when I tell them I played baritone. So I took a couple of my friends to come work with me at the Cinnabon place inside of Schlotzsky’s. The owners were nice, but they worked more than me so, when I got a .25 cent raise I was grateful. I left and went to college in Starkville.

4559 Kirkley Drive Jackson, Ms 39206 601-***-**** *******************@******.*** M&M QUICK LUBE

I worked here over the summer on Terry Rd, in 2020 while waiting on college. It was a family business and my friend told me I could wash cars there along side their uncle. I did more than just wash cars. That summer I learned about car engine oil, mileage, measurements, and a small bit of repair. Washing cars came natural in the summer because it was really hot. At the end of the day we would lock up and be right back before the sun rose the next morning.

ZAXBY’S

I worked at Zaxby’s on Lakeland Drive for a good week before they started to cut my hours. I had experience in fast food but they still wanted me to have Zaxby’s experience. My first night of orientation I worked the whole night. Everything was smooth, the customers were always right and their food would always be wrong lol. But my only problem was when we were about to close, two older people came in and started working and basically telling me I had to do what they said just being old. I wasn’t intimidated and I finished my shift but now that I think about it, I don’t think they worked there. The manager stopped giving me hours and said that I didn’t talk to her before quitting. I loved eating chicken tenders on shift.

UPS

I worked at UPS in South Jackson for about two weeks. I thought it was going to be easy and sweet because I knew a couple people already there. I would have to leave my phone in my car and at the time I couldn’t stay away from the phone. Loading the trucks was not for the weak. It felt like an intense workout most of the time I was there. I could never be left alone because there was so much to do. Most nights they would send a few of the truck people home early so I took advantage of that perk. I quit and told them I hurt my back while slinging boxes.

KASAI NORTH AMERICA

I recently stopped working at Kasai North America because of it was my first high paying job. Inside of the warehouse you have forklifts operating while trying to work. I’ve never been injured there but I’ve heard of someone being hit with a forklift and it made me rethink walking around. Most of the work was hands on and very precise but I wear glasses so I was out of uniform without my safety glasses on. And precision was hard due to the pace of work. Every one was scared to work at a pace that was comfortable to be productive and precise in. I quit due to lacking ability. I was getting in trouble because my one job was productivity and it started to become something they would look out for me. I couldn’t keep letting the team down so I stepped down after my son Legend was born. KOCH FOODS MORTON, MS

I actually started here at $21 an hour. Its a real job. Honestly I have a check to go and pick up from them so I’m gonna try and get my job back. Working with dead chickens was never part of the plan but I wanna be paid like that though. 4559 Kirkley Drive Jackson, Ms 39206 601-***-**** *******************@******.***
