Senior Systems Engineer – TeamLogic IT Charleston
TeamLogic is a Franchise MSP. My job was to provide onsite and remote support for our Managed Clients. The clients were a mix of Windows and Apple. We used Ninja One to manage the updates / compliance on the devices. My job also included selling the MSP services as well as cleaning up months of paperwork / tickets. Most of my time was spent managing the users via Ninja One, Blackpoint, Bitdefender and Microsoft’s 365 console.
Client Success Specialist - Lee Publications, Davenport, IA
I provided employee support and provisioning for our BLOX Digital system. This system was used by all of the 80+ newspapers in LEE. In addition to the user component, I built templates and content for the various papers. This Digital content also fed the press systems for a printed paper in most markets. All work was managed through either Manage Engine or the JIRA ticketing systems. All of this work was performed remotely and after-hours work was needed for some of this. The systems were largely Web based but the core work required .html and .xml templating. As needed, I still provided technical support for the other Publishing / Press systems I had supported in the previous 6 years.

Customer Service Manager - LEE Enterprises Inc, Davenport, IA
Desktop Services Manager based in Omaha, NE and for Multiple locations in Nebraska and Western Iowa. We provided walk-up, onsite and remote services for those location. During Covid, that expanded to Tier III for the entire company. Using the Microsoft workbench, Manage Engine and a few other systems, we maintained and migrated desktops from Windows 7 to Windows 11, in the time I was there. As a Regional Manager, I worked with my counterparts to standardize the Imaging and Software packages we supported. Until early 2022, all user provisioning for the Midwest was done through Omaha. I managed the Cisco call manager until late 2022 as we moved to Cisco’s VoIP. Given that Omaha was the Corporate Headquarters, we managed inventory and did Depot level repair or System upgrades. I had administrative access to every system we supported and over time, became the go to for many of the systems. This also included 3 VPN systems, Verizon Phones, Video Security Systems, Old publishing systems, Databases and our Press systems that still used Windows XP. In the last 1 years there, I was also remotely supporting the Print facilities in 5 other locations. In the last 6 months I took on Remote Patching for the OS’s on the PC hardware, in all locations. In my last 1 months, I worked with and managed a small team to focus on PC OS compliance for the entire company.

Lan Wan Integrator - Nebraska Methodist Health System, Omaha, NE
I started as a Network Administrator. Over time I helped to build, support, integrate and migrate the Network system within NMHS. When I started, we were Token Ring and over time, we migrated to Ethernet. We stayed with a Nortel core due to the traffic going to our IBM Mainframes. I helped to implement and design the layout of Wireless in our Hospital infrastructure. Over time, we migrated to a Cisco based Network and then migrated our Avaya phone system to a Cisco VoIP system. I was lead on the Wireless and getting our network built out to also support our medical devices. As we migrated from our Hospital medical system to Cerner, I was pulled into many projects to ensure that everything worked. Over time, I became the working manager of the network group. Over time I helped to get all areas of the Hospitals, Clinics and their associated equipment onto the Cisco Wireless system. The biggest challenge came from having a fault tolerant network and integrating a Video Security system that was built on an Asynchronous basis. This became a Major pain to support and likely should have been kept separate. In the last 2 years I was there, we implemented Service Now to replace our internal ticketing system. I did the ITIL certification based on their system. In the last 6 months I was there, I also took over managing the Desktop Support folks.
11/1996 - 10/1998
Outsourced Manager at US West - JWP Businessland, Santa Clara, CA
Desktop Manager for the Omaha, Des Moines and Sioux Falls locations for US West. I was a working manager for the local desktop crew. We were part of the 14 state, outsourced support for all of US West. We provided support for Software, PC’s, Laptops and Printers. I worked with 6 other employees to ensure support and coverage for all of the 14 States. I traveled to other locations to train / on-board new staff. OS/2 was a key issue for the billing department here. I have supported OS/2 for years. We did component level repair on their Apple equipment. I had certifications for Apple, HP and some other software packages. A year into the engagement, I also picked up the Network staff as they were having issues.. I had no budget to worry about, but I still had performance reviews and now, more importantly, customer reviews and expectations. I had to manage to expectations on many levels and motivate my staff with little more than reassurance that things will get better. I was able to leverage some vendor training for most of the staff. I also got tagged to help stabilize the NT roll-out as well as working with all areas during one of their Labor Strikes. Having had US West as a customer back in the 90's helped as well. In October of 98, I got downsized as part of the contract.
05/1994 - 10/1996
Lan Admin - West Telemarketing, Omaha, NE
When I started with West Telemarketing they were still three independent companies; Interactive, Outbound and Inbound. I helped to bring the three entities into one company Novell network. In a few short months, new Nortel hardware was implemented as well as building a Fiber optic ring around the campus. We then made the appropriate changes to the IP scheme and brought the networks together. Over time I became the Supervisor of Technical Services as my boss took a job in Washington state. I was able to develop career paths and facilitate training for the network staff. As we were building out the Network and adding systems to the Network, another turnover happened and I took over Desktop as well, bringing my staff to 14. Again, more development and training to grow the staff. I also had to work with Finance to retain folks but not break the bank. The issue was maintaining a technical staff that were making less than our inbound telemarketers. I led the effort to revamp our main call center from Coax to Ethernet to support Terminal Emulation. As we picked up more areas to support, I picked up knowledge on Pyramid Systems and their Non-Stop SQL as well as our Nortel phone system. I picked up knowledge on the other software systems to support the various areas, be it Finance, purchasing, operations for inbound and outbound calls, and other areas. The last major project I worked on at West was opening a new call center in Hampton Virginia. At West, I had developed a close working relationship with our facilities folks as it related to heating, cooling and power. That became invaluable at Hampton where a contractor wired some circuits wrong and kept taking down the network due to miscalculations of loads in the electrical panel.
01/1992 - 05/1994
MIS Technician - Hyatt Reservation Center, Omaha, NE
Novell Network Administrator as well as Desktop and Printer technician. While there I picked up support and maintenance of a number of other things there to include their AT&T 3B2 and the G2 phone switch, the Airline interfaces and rebuilding their Network core. While there, I also picked up experience with Terminal Emulation and we eventually implemented a Tuxedo front end to our systems in the call center in Oakbrook Illinois. I also picked up and certified on Informix running on HP’s Unix. It wasn't much different than the Dbase and FoxBASE/FoxPro that I had been supporting since working for a company in 86'. Hyatt purchased a System and program built around Informix from Brock systems in Atlanta. I spent a couple months reworking what Hyatt purchased to create a problem tracking system for customer service. Years after I left Hyatt, it was still in use.
09/1987 - 01/1992
Systems Engineer - JWP Businessland, Santa Clara, CA
I started with them as a tech and got pulled many directions to support the customers. Networking was a hot button and Businessland was Novell's #1 partner. While at Businessland, I got certified on a number of systems and then focus on being a Systems Engineer to assisted with selling Networks and Connectivity. Towards the end of my time there, I was supporting customers in multiple states and was part of the Central Region SE group. Again, not focusing on one technology or product, laid the groundwork for a career of supporting and servicing systems. In my time here, I also picked up exposure to CAD systems and also to UNIX platforms. Towards the end of my time there, I was not only doing Pre and Post Sales support / service for Network customers, I was also mentoring and leading our technical staff. I was supporting clients in three states and at times would hop a flight to some of their remote locations for short engagements. In January, Businessland laid off 8000 employees in an effort to remain viable. Our Omaha office was wiped out.
12/1984 - 09/1987
Various Businesses,, None Selected
For 3 years I worked at a few startup companies doing both Retail and Technical support. PC's were just hitting the market and Apple was getting a foothold in the Education market. I also worked on some vertical market databases and applications. The three years left me with the definite impression that I wanted to stay with the Technical field but I shouldn't focus on a single piece as they interact.
