Associates to consult for EOG in South Texas, West Texas and New Mexico. MI SWACO / Schlumberger, Lafayette LA 70508 Oct 2004 - Sep 2017 Drilling Fluids Specialist/Completion Fluid Specialist
While at MI SWACO, they provided me with many avenues to pursue and expand my potential.
Through self-motivation, obtained all the required training necessary to become deepwater certified. This training encompassed Eighteen Knowledge Assessments, Five Task Based Assessments, followed by an extensive Certification Board Review.
Worked on numerous deep-water projects while at MI, some of the highlights were, 17 Hands for Dominion, Chevron’s, The Jack Well (Walker Ridge) on the Cajun Express and some of the Tahiti wells were drilled with this rig.
Spent the majority of my last ten years at MI working for BP.
Worked on the Holstein Spar, drilled and completed the first well on the Thunderhorse (PDQ), worked on the Nakika Project on the Transocean Marianas and in my final four years there, was the lead for both drilling and completions on the Seadrill West Vela.
While on the West Vela we were in the Thunderhorse Field in
Mississippi Canyon drilling 21,000’ to 24,000’ wells at various angles. For the riserless sections we used Seawater and 16.4 ppg 4x salt saturated WBM. This mud was blended with the MOF as per drilling program. Intervals after the riserless section were all drilled with Reliant SBM. All supporting additives to maintain the Rheliant were MI SWACO products.
Pilot test before enhanced treatments to ensure achievable results.
Received a Q-STOP Award for recognizing and stopping an event which ultimately avoided a service quality incident.
Throughout these projects worked with a variety of individuals and professionals that provided me with a diverse experience of teamwork. It is this experience that has led to my success. Halliburton / Baroid, Lafayette LA Jul 1987 - Oct 2004 Drilling Fluids Specialist/Completion Fluid Specialist
Hired as a Completion Fluid Engineer, focusing exclusively on completion and workover operations for both shelf and deepwater projects during the first two years.
Successfully completed the Baroid Mud School in Houston, graduating 6th in class. Routinely performed both completion and drilling fluids roles as assigned throughout the tenure at Halliburton / Baroid. Contributed to major projects including Mariner’s King Kong, Exxon’s Diana Project (once the longest extended reach well), and Chevron’s Genesis Spar.
Work included land operations in California (Kern Ridge for Shell) and offshore assignments on Exxon’s Hondo and Heritage platforms.
In 2003, assigned to Gazprom in the Astrakhan Region of Russia to conduct drill stem testing (DST).
Served as Project Manager and Mud Engineer, overseeing the construction of a brine and mud plant on-site. Developed all operational procedures.
The wells were high temperature, high pressure (HTHP) with 28% Hydrogen Sulphide. Designed and implemented a new 18.0 ppg WBM system to displace a biologically compromised mud, followed by displacement with 10.7 ppg Calcium Chloride for DST operations.
Maintained contingency plans using 21.0 ppg Zinc Bromide to protect formation integrity during tool changes.
Following project completion, transitioned to a role with MI SWACO.
