* Doctor of Philosophy, Theological Studies, Concentration in New Testament Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, IL—January 2004-May 2010 Dissertation Topic—Γραφη in the Letters to Timothy This work consists of an analysis of the context and occurrences of γραφή (“Scripture”) in 1 Tim 5:18 and 2 Tim 3:16, and it maintains that Paul, the writer of record, used γραφή to refer to both the Old Testament and his own writings, along with the Gospel of Luke and other apostolic writings extant in his day.

Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, IL Thesis—In Words Taught by the Spirit: An Exegetical Study of 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 This work traces Paul’s usage of first person plural personal pronouns through the first four chapters of 1 Corinthians, and proposes that, when Paul writes, “We speak . . . in words taught by the Spirit,” he indicates the means by which he and others of the apostolic company spoke and taught the truths of God in the very words of God. Recipient of the Ludvig J. Pederson Award for Outstanding Thesis in NT Studies.
