Career Objective
My career objective is to obtain a job where my skills can be useful and utilized. I would like to grow with the company I work for and expand my knowledge, skills, and experience.
Personal Statement
I am a very likable, down-to-earth individual who has an ambition to achieve great things in any given environment. I have an Associate degree in Business Management from Texas State Technical College. I also have experience as a substitute teacher for all school ages from 1-12 grades for 4 years. I am bilingual in Spanish. I am part of Phi Theta Kappa which is an honor society for college students. I served as secretary for Phi Theta Kappa while attending TSTC in Abilene. I also just finished getting another associate’s degree from College of the Mainland in General Studies this spring.
Work Experience
Cashier (Jan 1-2019 - Jan-2020)
T.J. Maxx, 3625 Catclaw Dr, Abilene, TX 79606
My job was to cash people out, offer cards and answer calls. Keep the store clean and organized. Worked in all positions including the dressing room and sales floor.
Sales Associates (Mar-2014- Mar- 2016)
Old Navy, 3601 Catclaw Dr. Abilene, Texas
My job required me to keep the fitting room clean and fold and organize the clothes. I would also offer cards to customers and assist them in applying for a credit card at the cash register.
I worked part time.
Loan Operation Specialist (Jan-2008 - Nov-2008)
First Financial Bank of Abilene, 400 Pine Street Abilene, Texas
I was a Loan Operation Specialist. My job or duties required me to check loans. (Made sure all codes, amounts, signatures, and dates were correct.) I also handled payments. I would input payments received for a loan in a computer program. I would also answer calls from customers occasionally and file and sometimes fax.
Office Clerk (Jan-2007 - April-2007)
Abilene Bookkeeping & Tax Service, 517 Grape Street Abilene, Texas
My duties as an office clerk were to assist the customer in preparing them to meet someone in the tax office to do their taxes. I would get a copy of their social security and license to have new on file. Then I would look up their old chart if they had one. Other work I had was answering phones, fax, and a lot of copying (copy of tax papers for the customer) and account ledgering. The reason for leaving this job was that it was only seasonal work during the tax season.
Substitute (Jan-2003 - Dec-2007)
Abilene Independent School District (AISD), 241 Pine Street Abilene, Texas
I would sub for all positions including Teacher’s Aide, Music Aid, P.E. Aide, Autistic Aide, Cafeteria Aid, and Secretary and as Special Needs Aide for smaller children. My job required me to help the students at times on a one-on-one basis to help them better understand their work; also, I helped them with problem solving. I would also grade papers and make sure the students made it to their other classes. As a Secretary I would make sure I answered the phones and wrote down messages, and transferred calls to the right department. The reason I left this job was to take a bank job.
Front Desk Secretary (Aug-2001 - May-2002)
Planetarium, 700 North Mockingbird Lane Abilene, Texas
My duties included answering phones, taking messages, faxing, some filing, copying, organizing, and sometimes greeting the public. This job required a lot of heavy copying (200 copies of whole test booklets). I would also sometimes proofread letters or work that were to be sent out. I was the last person to leave so locking up was my job every day. This was only a school job so sadly it was vocational.
Surveyor (Jan-2001 - Aug-2001)
Scripps Data, 166 Pine Street Abilene, Texas
My job was to survey people who were customers of the newspaper that Scripps Data would print. Surveys would vary from 35 minutes to 1 minute. Being on the phone with a customer was 100% of my job. So, I used a lot of communication skills. Sometimes I would even translate the survey for the Spanish speaking customers since I am bilingual. I left this job because I was still in school and thought the Planetarium was a good choice over the two since it was less hours.
Education (Aug-1998 - May-2002)
High School Diploma
Abilene High School, 2800 North 6th Abilene, Texas
I am a graduate of Abilene High School of the AISD district. I obtained a diploma in 2002 from this school. I also received a certificate in a computer class which is good as a credit to college.
(Fall-2019 – Spring-2021)
Associate Degree in Business Management Technology (Texas State Technical College, 650 E Hwy 80, Abilene, TX 79601)
(Summer 2022-Spring 2024)
Associate Degree in General Studies (College of the Mainland, 1200 Amburn Rd. Texas City, TX 77591)
Community Service
I volunteered more than 250 hours at the Medical Care Mission as front desk secretary. My duties were front desk receptionist, phone clerk, and filing. I also was a Spanish speaking translator when needed.
Skills
Experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (For my business degree taking a full semester of each was mandatory). Typing speed of 60 wpm. Part of Phi Theta Kappa for life. I held the secretary job for Phi Theta Kappa while attending TSTC in Abilene, Texas. I have a year of experience as a Loan Operation Specialist.
