As an aircraft worker and inspector, I applied standardized and specific procedures to accomplish tasks on the KC-130F/R/ and T model aircraft. My typical work assignments include disassembling, reassembling, inspecting, and repairing aircraft or major components for overhaul or modification while following the proper instructional manuals and all command safety rules and regulations. I would brief aircrew on functional test flight purposes and requirements, ensuring clear intent of need for testing and repairs were accomplished, complete, and documented accurately. I remove and install major aircraft components of aircraft structure or systems. I use the maintenance instruction manuals, along with aircraft blueprints, schematics, and illustrated parts breakdown manuals, and have experience reviewing technical manuals for accuracy. My job requires attention to detail to ensure a quality and safe product for the war fighter airframe, engine, and propeller systems. I check technical specifications, technical directives, and configurations to ensure the aircraft contains up-to-date changes. I can install and adjust major aircraft systems, including flight controls, landing gear, brakes, and other aircraft systems. I can remove, repair, and install engines, gearboxes, hydraulic, and fuel systems components in accordance with technical manuals. I am proficient in towing and taxiing aircraft, operating overhead hoists, and jacking/leveling aircraft. I ensure all aircraft logbooks and records are correct and up to date. I can recognize and evaluate aircraft parts and components such as gaskets, bushings, couplings, control cables, gear boxes, and flight control surfaces. I know where these parts and components are installed and the methods of removal and installation, so that the parts are not damaged. I can recognize when parts and components may need to be cleaned and reinstalled or must be replaced by examining for visual evidence of wear, damage, or improper repairs. I know how to select the correct tool for the job, to get the job done safely without damaging the component, and in a timely fashion. I can use pneumatic air ratchets, dial calipers, micrometers, speed handles, ratchet wrenches, or box end wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, hammers, special tools, scribes, awls, and many other tools to accomplish and complete the task at hand. I use measuring instruments such as torque wrenches, digital micrometers, go-no-go gauges, multi meters, feeler gauges and tension-meters. As and aircraft mechanic on the KC-130 I have followed an aircraft through the PMI maintenance schedule from induction to disassembly to build up to ground check and flight check with delivery back to the Fleet Marine Force. I have discovered and know the proper procedures for reporting and documenting discrepancies in the aircraft. I have experience diagnosing and correcting flight discrepancies, and applying external electrical power to aircraft for troubleshooting aircraft system malfunctions. I can take direction from supervisors and team leaders. Continually provided on the job training (OJT) to all subordinates as needed. I am a team player. Also I can use my initiative to complete daily work tasks without supervision.
