Direct Store Delivery System

Business Analyst and Mainframe SME– 2013 - 2017

Direct Store Delivery (DSD) – Scan Based Trading (SBT)

Created/modified COBOL/PL-1 programs using IMS to enhance system performance

Performed as the lead analyst and developer on the Scan Based Trading System (SBT) within Direct Store Delivery (DSD).

The system reads daily transactions and processes authorized items by division/vendor to pay the vendor for their items.

We use EDI to transmit initial sales to notify the vendor.

Worked with the business users to provide daily reporting on payments made when items go thru our scanners.

Kroger is a $110B company, 25% of all sales go thru the DSD systems. Of those transactions, 40% are SBT.

RTA FLEET MAINTENANCE SYSTEM

Business Analyst and Developer SME - 2008 – 2013

Lead the RTA Fleet Maintenance Project as the SME to replace MCMS as the Enterprise Maintenance System.

RTA was not equipped to manage accounting when it was purchased. I wrote the BRD and COBOL programming specifications for RTA to create an accounting process that would match what we had been using with our previous vendor software.

We used SyncSort to manipulate the data from RTA before processing into our Corp. Accounting System.

With this project, our goal was to standardize how the business tracks maintenance and what General Ledger accounts would be posted to.

As part of the rollout, completed multiple onsite visits to assist and coach in the setup and training of RTA for new users.

Developed multiple accounting interfaces to process purchase orders from the RTA SQL/2008 R2 database and post information to the Vendor Payment System and Kroger Accounting System on the mainframe using Connect/Direct and COBOL II programming.

To reduce support calls, provided mainframe output reports on our Intranet Service, Barney Web. This reduce support calls for reports from 2 a month to none.

PEOPLENET FLEET ON-BOARD SYSTEM

Business Analyst and Developer SME - 2006 – 2008

Lead the On-Board Computer System project as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Enterprise On-Board Computer System.

I worked as the PM, System Architect, and Business Analyst on this project. I created the Request for Process (RFP) that was sent to the vendors. I created the BRD for our warehouse systems to integrate with PeopleNet.

I organized the selection process and coordinated the replacement search/initial install of PeopleNet at Ralph’s Grocery in Los Angeles, with additional installations at our Kroger facilities in Atlanta, Roanoke, and Memphis facilities.

Additional installs were completed at Fry's Grocery in Phoenix, Arizona and Fred Meyer in Portland, Oregon.

Worked closely with business lead to deliver a working solution to be deployed throughout the enterprise.

Worked alongside the vendor to understand all business requirements, addressing bugs in the system and applying enhancements when necessary.

MAINTANCE COMPUTER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM(MCMS)

Business Analyst and Developer SME - 1999 – 2006

Maintained the MCMS maintenance system for 18 years, working alongside the vendor and users to obtain maximum utilization of the system.

Was a direct report to the Sr. Director of Transportation keeping him aware of how to effectively operate the application.

Implemented multiple processes on the Mainframe using COBOL II, These processes enhanced user acceptance of the system and accomplished 90% of ROI from original CA

Developed multiple CICS/DB2 processes to enhance system capabilities.

Initiated the use of Bar Code Scanning to reduce user errors and increase data input.

Established a system process to sell fuel to vendors. This involved creating batch processes on the mainframe using SyncSort and COBOL II to upload fuel sales to our accounting systems to receive credit from third party vendors.

Processing all transactions thru Kroger Accounting for immediate credit.

Data Processing Technician - Programmer/Manager

As Personnel Data Processing Manager during Desert Shield/Storm maintained personnel accountability system for the 101st Airborne from July 1990 – April 1991. During this time, with my direction, personnel maintained an accuracy rating of 96%, the highest rating during the war.

I supervised as many as 25 personnel both technical and business analysts.

We developed new reporting systems that were adapted by the U.S. Army after we returned from the war.

Performed duties as Director of Data Processing Facility in Panama for Southern Command from Sept 1986 – May 1989. Managed the duties 50 personnel, both Military and Civilian that supported logistic and financial processes for all of Central and South America.
