Projects

Project Management – Designed and managed a plant extension project. Project cost totaled $500,000.00. Designed the project in AutoCAD 3D and contacted vendors for estimating the cost and construction of the project, worked with local government on permitting and zoning restrictions, hired vendors for the project and managed construction from start to finish.

Plant Layout – Assisted in the purchase of a new facility located in TN. Worked with resident engineer on the remapping and design of piping and material flow to better accommodate new production. Developed layout with personnel needed to manage each operation and area. Hired security and worked with new management for project handoff.

Waste Water Treatment – Worked with consultants and MS Dept. of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) to develop a plan for the disposal of waste water. Contracted with local city government to dispose of waste water at an unused lagoon. Developed payment plan for city and still currently manage this project.

Plant Layout – Assisted in the purchase of a new packing machine. Met initially with vendors to study and learn the machine’s operation. Once purchase was final, redesigned the cell layout to accommodate the new machine and to improve material flow throughout the cell.

Process Improvement – Led a project team of managers and engineers in a review of the painting process. Project consisted of reviews of current process and the implementation of 4M (man, machine, method, material). Project results included increased efficiency from 22% to 55% and an overtime reduction from 23% to 13%. Project timeline was four weeks.

Time Study Project – Conducted a time study project on the building of fiber optic cables onboard a Coast Guard ship. Time studies revealed that fiber optic building was not feasible due to the amount of time required to build onboard ship. Project resulted in a move to build fiber optic spares onshore, as well as replacing damaged cables instead of repairing them.

Product Improvement - Worked with Electrical Engineers to reduce static noise generated on circuit boards. Reviewed current work instructions, then remapped and redesigned work instructions to show new wiring method and placement. The new method reduced noise generated by wires and improved production build time.

Plant Layout – Led a project team of students at a manufacturing plant. Team’s accomplishments included value stream mapping of the current process and creating a value stream map of a lean manufacturing process. Current layout was changed to accommodate the new value stream map. The procedure included obtaining a blueprint of the current manufacturing facility, which was put into AutoCAD so the students could get an overview of the facility. By using JIT techniques, the layout was changed to increase production.

Ergonomics – Conducted a study of Ergonomics and its effects on humans. Study included researching the effects of light, weather, elements, and job design. Purpose of the study was to enhance the Lean Enterprise training on the Gulf coast campus.

Website – Created a webpage for the Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Southern Mississippi using (HTML) Hypertext Markup Language.
