Contract 2A-Lower Margarita Channel, 2AR-Channel Excavation, 2AA-Bechara Industrial Area and Bechara Mid-Section, Channel STA 22+60 to STA 29+80 Bechara Industrial Area. Project was the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Project won the Safety Award “Door to Door in the construction”, granted by the Department of Labor in the division of PROSHA. Section 2A: Construction of steel pipe, pile wall, confluence wall, a steel sheet pile wall at the Margarita confluence, relocation of the San Jose Sewer Siphon and 36-inch waterline, and channel dredging.
Section ARRA 2AR: Excavation of the channel along the Margarita Channel, a confluence wall, and the dredging of the lower Puerto Nuevo channel. Demolition of the existing confluence wall, construction of a new confluence wall, revetment, grade control structures, dredging and excavation. Section 2AA: Box Culvert: Construction included a secant pile wall box culvert, which was the last 300 feet of the culvert near the port facilities bulkhead and the open channel work north of Kennedy Avenue. Bechara Middle Section: Construction includes an approximately 720-feet earth channel between the existing box culvert and Kennedy Avenue Bridge, includes deep soil mixing and relocation of the existing 90-inch diameter sanitary sewer line.
