Assist managers and technical staff in identifying and satisfying corporate and regulatory ES&H work requirements, including preparing primary hazard screens, operating procedures and work control documents.
Active member on the Site Spill Response Team Liaisons with subject matter experts and helps management conduct self-assessments Provides technical support associated with the recognition, measurement, evaluation and control of potential hazardous waste compliance issues Provides occasional support for Chemical Management and Pollution Prevention.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of hazards and safe work practices associated with handling and managing hazardous materials and waste Experience and technical knowledge in environmental compliance, specifically hazardous waste characterization, storage and shipment requirements Strong computer skills is an essential requirement for this position, as waste generation and tracking is done with an electronic, bar-code system.
Ability to use personal protective equipment, including a respirator.

Knowledge of federal, state and local hazardous waste regulations, policies and procedures.

• Supporting operations in the ongoing monitoring of the facilities to ensure that hazardous waste contamination does not occur
• All trenches and sumps throughout the facilities are cleaned every 90 days so that hazardous waste does not exceed the on-site storage time that is allowed for hazardous waste generation Coordinator usually checks progress of job during the cleanup, and he must inspect the area after its completion. A typical cleanup may require 4 to 5 days
• Prior to the completion of each 90-day cleanup the Coordinator will request a Purchase Orders (PO) for the 90-day cleanup from the Project Analyst at each specific site. Once the PO number is obtained, the Clean-up Coordinator uses it to sign the (job cost) tickets sent by the Hazardous Waste Cleanup Contractor. The Hazardous Waste Clean-up Contractor will then submit an invoice to the Purchasing Department for the amount approved by the Clean-up Coordinator.
• This position is also responsible for coordinating the cleanup of spills through the geothermal facilities. The progress of this cleanup – from first notification, analytical results, and final arrangement for disposal should be tracked by the Coordinator.
• The Coordinator is also responsible for tracking the disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste that has not been placed in a bin for disposal (e.g. waste waiting for lab analysis), in order to ensure that waste is shipped within 90 days if it is hazardous.
• In the course of conducting daily spill audits. The Coordinator ensures that waste piles are properly labeled and that they have not exceeded the 90-day storage limit.
• Responsible for the crew that will do the demolition and disposal of piping, vessels, or any structural material that will no longer be used. This includes cleanup of material that contains scale (or other hazardous materials), as well as the arrangements to recycle it if necessary.
• This position is responsible for generating the necessary work orders to complete environmental work throughout the plants. This is done using the Oracle WAM system. The Coordinator also assists the environmental department with assigning and tracking environmental projects resulting from zone inspections, environmental audits or other environmental projects
