Description

I was recruited by Heartland COOP about August of 2019 and was ultimately hired as the Operations Manager for all of Texas operations. We had approx. 50 million bushel capacity over 10 facilities in Texas, including 4 large flat storage buildings. All within about a 90 mile radius. We had only opened and operated 4 facilities in the time I was there, which consisted of approx. 17 mil. bu. capacity. We also had a grain processing and flaker mill at the Lariat Terminal facility. Our big focus was mix and blend. We accepted a lot of Dkg, FM, and damage, and would then mix and blend to the mill, local feed yards/dairies, and onto outbound shuttles. It was a big and exciting challenge, but I have never been afraid of a good challenge. We usually averaged about 25 employees at any given time. And, we did a lot of bin cleaning ! Lariat is the only facility with rail access, We did avg.8-10 unload/reload shuttles in the springtime. These were corn unload/wheat and/or milo reload. And in addition to the constant monthly corn unload shuttles. This was a fully manual facility. The year prior to our purchase, the through put was approx. 13 mil. bu. Our 2020 fiscal handle was approx. 30 mil. bu. And quite comparable for second year.
