Managed the newly created Hispanic Mother-Daughter Program funded at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) by the AT&T Foundation.
Main goal was to prevent Hispanic female junior high and high school students from dropping out of school.
Recruited students and their mothers from the Edgewood, Southside, Harlandale, and San Antonio independent school districts to attend this program located at the UTSA campus
Developed the curriculum provided through weekly workshops, seminars, and presentations made by Hispanic professionals (attorneys, medical doctors, legislators) who had graduated from one of the high schools in these districts
Provided academic advising to motivate students to continue their education from junior high, to high school, and then college
Mothers attended seminars that would help them understand the importance of a high school and a college education. Many of the mothers were drop-out students who became interested in attaining their GED. They were provided with the resources necessary to help them achieve their goal.
