The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD)
With the Board President, enables the NACDD Board (and Executive Committee) to fulfill its governance functions; provides direction and leadership to achieve NACDD’s mission, strategic plan, and annual operating and fundraising plans; and serves as steward of the association’s funds. Primary responsibilities include government relations/advocacy, strategic planning, and public affairs.
Accomplishments
Acquired over $450 Million in the past 20 years in public and private resources.
Increased annual government revenue every year since 2005.
Credited as one of Atlanta’s largest nonprofit grants making institutions
Reorganized the organization to accommodate an increase of staff from 10 to over 50.
Reorganized the headquarter staff with a new team leadership structure.
Organized and manages 60 consultants in 19 regional offices in the United States and the Pacific Rim.
Developed a grant, program management and integrated financial administration system across the institution. Manages more than 125 projects per year.
Educates policy makers in Washington, D.C. and works with over 400 partner organizations on advocacy initiatives.
Founded ProVention Health Foundation to support the Association.
Executive Director
Henry W. Grady Foundation, Inc. October 2001 – July 2005
Executive Director, responsible for organizing the foundation while raising charitable revenue for the Grady Health System. Responsibilities included: management of staff, management of foundation assets, policy development, board development, major gifts, grant writing, capital campaigns, public relations, and strategic planning.
Accomplishments
Raised $2.5 million annually for the organization through direct mail, major gifts, personal solicitation, foundation and corporate grants, special events and grant writing.
Responsible for a $700,000 organization budget and personally managing the stewardship of an investment portfolio worth over $6 million.
Created the foundation’s fundraising organization infrastructure and managed the recruitment of a 25-member volunteer governing board, community advisory boards, and other volunteers.
Developed grants across the institution. Established grant criteria, policies and procedures associated with grant management.
Facilitated the development of a new vision, mission, strategic and fundraising plan.
Created marketing and communications materials, newsletter, direct mail, donor recognition, annual fund materials, and public speaking exposure resulting in increased community support and knowledge about the purpose and work of the foundation.

Submission of grant proposals, securing over $5 million in funding for the organization
Organized the development office with a strategic plan and prepared the organization institutionally to receive funding from foundations, corporations, individuals, and bequests.
Prepared an outcomes-oriented process by which funding was leveraged by a variety of sources to reach mutually beneficial outcomes.

Administered the State Rural Health Program and set rural health policy for Georgia.
