Experience:

I currently work as an Advance Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) in Outpatient Mental Health clinic. I have worked in Mental Health for 10 years. I have worked here at the VA Medical Center for One-year 6months. I am responsible for managing and maintaining multiple computer systems/applications daily providing great communication and customer service skills. The system/applications include Vet link to check Veteran’s in/out and update demographics. Vista Scheduling Enhancement (VSE) to schedule Veteran’s consults and return to clinic orders (That includes appointments in Salisbury, Charlotte, and Kernersville). I also use VSE daily to manage the query which helps schedule return to clinic orders. When running daily report, it is also done for inpatients. Inpatients are scheduled in the access clinic in a timely manner. Veteran Integrated System Technology Architecture (VISTA), I schedule Veteran consults. I also use Vista daily to run/manage the Encounter Report to ensure all daily encounters have been closed. I also manage the Active Consult Report to ensure consults are scheduled in a timely manner. Beneficiary travels pay is also processed in Vista. Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) is a system used to look up patient Information within their medical file, retrieve all medication, view return to clinic orders, and enter documentation to patient medical records and pending consults. This documentation is entered using templates in CPRS and the consult toolbox scheduler function in the consult comments. I forward any eligible consults to Community Care when veteran request and run the Decision Support Tool (DST). Consults are also eligible through the Mission Act. The Mission Act gives veterans with certain types of situations the ability to use a non- VA care provider.
