Areas of Knowledge and Experience
I started my services in the medical field as a secretary in the Labor and Delivery Unit in 2004 at Northshore Medical Center. After I obtained my LPN licensure in 2007, I was trained as a Scrub Nurse for the Labor and Delivery unit and a LPN on the postpartum unit.
During my time as a LPN I worked varies position such as home health and at Jackson Memorial Hospital Pediatric Prescribe Daycare.
After obtaining my RN licensure I worked in the Postpartum Unit and Labor and Delivery nurse at Northshore Medical which made a sum of my tenure 16 years there; my responsibilities included admitting and discharges as well as pain management, ante-partum and intra-partum care, post-partum care for the new mother, and emergency procedures; responsible for fetal monitoring and newborn stabilization post birth; accountable for all skills such as IV insertion, Foley catheter insertion, medication administration, and pre-operative assessment and preparation when applicable; circulate in the operating room during cesarean sections and other obstetrical procedures; scrubbing in for operative procedures acting as surgical scrub tech to meet unit needs.
After my tenure at Northshore Medical Center, I obtained a position as a staff nurse at Jackson Health System. My duties were the same as when I worked for Northshore Medical Center except for taking on the Charge Nurse role. As a Charge Nurse on the nightshift, I triaged expecting mothers and postpartum moms 6 weeks or less, I carried a patient load while managing the unit and delegating task to other staff members and served as a code team member for any obstetrical emergencies that occurred.
