Motor Vehicle Operator Cumberland County Veterans Affairs Health Care Facility 2022- Current.

The Motor Vehicle Operator duties include but are not limited to transporting patients both ambulatory and in wheelchairs to and from the Fayetteville VA Medical Centers, the outpatient clinics, and private medical centers. The medical transportation is for non-emergent patients. The incumbent will operate 15-passenger buses, 12-passenger vans, and sedans. The driver reports to the Mobility Manager and Transportation Assistant. The safety and timeliness during transport of patients is critical to the mission of the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. The driver will be required to operate vehicles in all types of weather conditions and on rural roads, in city driving, and on open highways. The operator must be able to properly load and unload patients and cargo and ensure that the vehicle is not overloaded or unbalanced. The motor vehicle operator must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.

Fills out the Preventive Maintenance Service Record and reporting and any accident or needed repair of the vehicle of its equipment to Engineering Service.

Cleans vehicle to maintain neat appearance and sanitary conditions.

Handles equipment properly to prevent breakage or damage.

Maintains regularly established schedules and/or trip assignments.

Conforms to all regulations for safety in the use of tools and equipment and in work practices with minimal supervision.

Follows all safety rules, regulations, traffic signs, and laws and is responsible for the safe transport of veterans.

Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles, such as checking tires, battery, fuel, and water.
