PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Onyx Power Inc. Mechanical Design Magnetic’ Power Distribution Systems, Santa Ana, CA 2010-2016
• Sr Mechanical Engineer CAD Administrator– Level IV 2014-2016, Once Again A subsidiary of PDI
(Power Distribution Inc,) now on the third or fourth management structure in my 5-1/2 years with Onyx PDI. Continuing to take on all the challenges head-on. They assigned me to a team in charge of reinventing our corporate numbering system. The new system was visible in all our facilities so we would have a centralized number server. custom built in the Intralink PDM system. I cut transformer design tasks scheduled at 2.5-11 Days down to 7 Hours-3 Days per job. Then I taught three design team members to utilize my method to do the same more than quadrupling our throughput capacity.
• Mechanical Engineer CAD Administrator – Level III 2013-2014, I returned to the corporate headquarters for specialized training to assume the esteemed role of Santa Ana CAD Administrator. I undertook challenging cost reduction initiatives aimed at optimizing design and manufacturing processes for the creation of new enclosure designs and the construction of the largest Autotransformer ever manufactured in our facility. This Autotransformer project involved the utilization of whopping twenty-five tons of core steel and pushed the boundaries of manufacturing capabilities of our facility to its limits and beyond. While leading this project through every aspect of design manufacturability, and delivery, it was necessary to bring in specialized handing equipment and professional riggers to safely lift and move its extreme size and weight. The Autotransformer made up 25% of our annual revenue that year. (Note: Having one of the world’s foremost transformer engineers as my mentor trust and my abilities helped immensely. Thanks to Mr. Vijay. Tendulkar.)
• Mechanical Engineer – Level II 2012-2013, dedicated to continuous improvement I attend every SolidWorks course available to me, always eager to embrace new challenges. Recognizing the value of my contributions to the company, Onyx management has consistently promoted me. For my excellence and delivery in my role of Mechanical Lead, I took on the role of overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Intralink PDM (Product Data Management) system in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. I am constantly seeking new innovative strategies to enhance our workflow efficiency. Collaborating closely with an exceptional team to ensure seamless operations. Successfully boosted our throughput, mitigating the necessity for the increased expenditure. When I first arrived all the designs took on average 7-21 working days. Through the creation of localized templates and changes to the workflow processes, I was able to cut the delivery time of design packages to 3.5-11 days, Doubling throughput. VICTOR N. EALEY JR. • Mechanical Engineer – Level II 2011-2012, following a successful contracting period of approximately two months with SoloPoint Solutions, Onyx offered me a permanent position as a full-time employee of Onyx/Smiths, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package. This transition marked the commencement of an intensive SolidWorks training program, inclusive of instruction in Intralink PDM. Entrusted with the establishment of libraries for universal accessibility throughout the company, overseeing software installations and updates on a company-wide scale. Concurrently, I meticulously managed time-sensitive mechanical designs for our Transformer and sheet metal enclosures in a fast-paced work environment. I am continuing to tighten timelines and making improvement to productivity tools, not only enhancing my personal performance but also bolstering the collective efficiency of the team. I discussed the need for a localized storage system and started writing an R.O.I. to justify one.
• Sr. Design Engineer 2010-2011– I was engaged as a 1099 Employee. (May 2010) My primary task was to alleviate the backlog of Engineering Change Notices. Within my initial two weeks, Entrusting me with various additional responsibilities. The CEO of the company, Roberto Cardoso, acknowledged my efforts by increasing my hourly rate by $2.00. Remarkably, I was able to resolve the backlog in half the anticipated time of three months. Instead of concluding my contract upon completion, Onyx management extended my tenure and assigned me additional tasks, further expanding my workload. I work with the I.T. department to create an Intranet workspace on the internal network, partitioned just for engineering personnel that the all the engineers could access from the over twenty locations throughout the facility. I streamlined the processing time of these new assignments from 4 weeks to 2-1/2weeks. Coupled with the efficiency of these designs by creating templates in electronic formats. Initially utilizing AutoCAD and/or Pro Engineer, I subsequently transitioned to SolidWorks design software, which I was self-taught at the time. The cost saving to the company more than paid my salary. As one of the few 1099 employees we were all told we would have to contract through SoloPoint Solutions for insurance purposes, to continue working at Onyx. APC / MGE, Critical Power and Cooling Division, Costa Mesa, CA 1979-2009 Sr. Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer – Sustaining Engineering (2000-2009) Lead designer for multiple product lines. Ensured continuous up-time of manufacturing product lines assigned. By processing all necessary documentation and collaborating with outside vendors, internal and external personnel.
• Designed the Power Distribution Panel (PDP) for Hewlett-Packard that went from concept to prototype within two and a half weeks, increasing over $8 million in new annual sales revenue.
• Designed a configurable rack mounted single phase Power Distribution Unit (PDU) that was only 3U’s high. Completed in only six and a half weeks from concept to full production. Company staple for more than 15- years
• Maintained, as well as create from scratch complex MAI’S (Manufacturing Instruction Drawings) Working to reduce process and production times to maximize profitability. Identified existing product design flaws. Redesigned systems to operate more efficiently simplifying the process procedure. and eliminating user errors in the field by removing the unnecessary circuit breaker. With the direct result of a savings over $.5 million dollars in a six month period.
• Help establish engineering procedures allowing the company to secure its ISO 9001:2000 certification rating and continued to support the needed changes.
• Led a successful multi-disciplinary team on multiple occasions. Enhancing communication establishing excellent ROI and on-time deliveries of all my projects. Electro-Mechanical Designer – Sustaining Engineering (1989-2000) Managed design team responsible for delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Mastered CAD Administration of Prime/Medusa running on a MicroVAX/VMS platform.
• Redesigned the Data Power System (DPS2500) converting it to a product called Power Management Module
(PMM). First opportunity managing design and completed it in only three Months. CERTIFICATIONS
