EDUCATION

Master of Engineering in Computer Engineering for Machine Learning, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA – Graduated 2024 Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI – Graduated 2019 ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

SOFTWARE ENGINEER – NORTHROP GRUMMAN BALTIMORE, MD 10/2023 - PRESENT

• Engineer in the development of Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) computer vision classification models.

• Co-led development of Bayesian & PyTorch based python algorithms to improve classifier accuracy in sensor-fusion.

• Mentored 2+ junior engineers while continuously improving script automation & documentation to promote automation.

• Successfully produced analytics and software products demonstrated during live flight to customers. COMPUTER VISION RESEARCH – VIRGINIA TECH 01/2024 – 11/2024

• Led research in the use of supplementing real-world image datasets with created images in photorealistic rendering engines (Epic Game’s Unreal Engine) in Tensorflow. Results disrupt common wisdom of training/validation/testing splits.

• Research showed that data-scarce applications can allocate more of their real data to testing by creating synthetic datasets to their real images. Optimally +20% synth images. Thus, offering an alternative to 50/25/25, 60/20/20 split rules. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – NORTHROP GRUMMAN BALTIMORE, MD 01/2023 – 10/2023

• Developed automated C-based software to test radar hardware modules against electrical and RF design requirements.

• Reduced RF test software execution time by hours and standardized software re-use across products.

• C-code programs controlled digital oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators and other electrical equipment. EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER – NORTHROP GRUMMAN BALTIMORE, MD 09/2019 – 01/2023

• Software developer and AGILE Product Owner developing & planning internal R&D radar capabilities and architectures.

• Developed C++ based event-driven communication software to facilitate user controls input and data response output.

• Contributed to renewing As team leader for four mixed experience engineers, I planned team tasks for each sprint/release, interfaced with the program’s customers with tech leads, and regularly interacted with System design teams & external partners.

SKILLS

• Programming (Python, C, C++, Bash for Linux OS)

• Machine learning packages (TensorFlow, PyTorch)

• Coding and training local LLM agents in LangChain

• Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins)

• Design software (Unreal Engine, AutoCAD, Eagle)

• RF, low-power, and electrical systems.

• Led team of 5 engineers in AGILE software delivery.

• Scholarship collegiate athlete (American football) ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

SENIOR UNDERGRADUATE PROJECT – VENTRA ROBOTICS GRANDVILLE, MI 01/2019 – 08/2019

• Created an automated testing embedded system for a Tier 1 supplier to Ford Motor company. Product enabled portable testing away from the company site and improved on-site technician quality control.

• In the team of four, I was primarily responsible for creating the automated C++ software tests that ran on the Beaglebone single-board computer. Created tests measured and validated product voltages, current and functionalities via a touchscreen GUI interface that activated tests that utilized the board’s GPIO, ADC, & PWN capabilities.

• The project occurred over 8 months to design, validate design, build, and successfully demonstrate the product. ENGINEERING CO-OP – NISSAN TECHNICAL CENTER FARMINGTON HILLS, MI 05/2017 – 12/2018

• Twelve months of internships in product testing and analysis. Presented customer insights into future business priorities.

• Projects included; 1) duel-leading research of competitor truck features, systems and segments for future marketability. 2) assisting in supplier business trips at other Nissan facilities in Arizona & Tennessee, 3) designing and constructing and electrical vehicle test harness for on-site electrical & software testing without the need for a full vehicle, and 4) providing customer sentiment analysis of product performance for electrical features for design improvement. ENGINEERING INTERN – ANNIS WATER RESEARCH INSTITUTE MUSKEGON, MI 05/2016 – 08/2016

• Created a data-logging water probe for tidal research in Muskegon Lake, Michigan to assist on-site biologists and chemists.

• I designed, constructed, and programed the probe with constraints to utilize 3D printed parts & 6-month deployments.

• Assembled the circuit board and programmed the Arduino based micro-controller data logger to gather and store data.

• Primarily responsible for researching and selecting sensors and equipment based on requirements and budget. SCHOLARSHIP ATHLETE – GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY ALLENDALE, MI 07/2014 – 05/2016

• Collegiate scholarship athlete on the Grand Valley State University American football team as a Defensive Tackle.
